    Disco 2 Brake fade

I think fade has to do with the kind of material the pad is made of. Apparently there's some different coloured pads made of stuff that dissipate heat better with the resultant effect of less fade. To be fair, the D2 is a fairly heavy vehicle with relatively small diameter disks for the kind of...

Defender 110 LandRover 110 CSW 1985 3ltr TDi Camper Defender

Read the description and my jaw dropped.... That is a priceless vehicle that appears to have been built up with a personal touch over years and years, and it's really sad to see you have to part with it. All the best with the sale anyway, and I hope it starts a bidding war that will see you earn...

    110 DCPU Td5 - saved from a farmer...

With all this effort put into it, I would have kept it for life.....that was a stunning transformation, and it's a sad thing to see it go.

    Sport Foxwell NT520 or BlueDriver

Did this professional you speak of tell you what sort of upgrades your ECUs needed? More knowledgeable members may come along and say otherwise, but I don't think this is fact. I do know the main dealers may sometimes do a reflash of say maybe an engine or transmission controller to remedy some...

    P38A 300Tdi conversion.

Unfortunately you can't use the transfer case of the Tdi for your P38 because of the location of the differentials on the axles - unlike every other land rover, the differentials on the P38 are on the left.

    P38A 300Tdi conversion.

As Datatek said, leaving the ECU in place is the easiest way out - not saying the whole conversion is going to be exactly a walk in the park. For starters, the 300Tdi being a direct injection engine gives it an edge in terms of efficiency over the BMW unit which is an indirect injection engine...

    P38A Boing!!

.......its all good until the part that arrives is labelled "Dunnloop" and has instructions written out in a way that you'd have to read it 3 or 4 times for it to make sense?......

newbie wanting to buy a disco 3/4 or range advice please

Was asking more on the lines of the V8 petrol units...... I know most of the ones sold in Europe came with the TDV6, but for the US and other World markets they predominantly came with V8 petrol units. Strange thing is these ones seem to be holding their value as they get on in years unlike in...

newbie wanting to buy a disco 3/4 or range advice please

@gstuart , talking about engines for the discovery 3 and 4, any idea about the longevity and reliability of their V8 units, are they any better?

newbie wanting to buy a disco 3/4 or range advice please

If you can afford it, then by all means I'd say go for the disco 4. Don't quote me on this, but I believe all the major known issues with the 3 had been ironed out with the introduction of the 4, including the known weakness in the oil pump casting in the 2.7 V6. Do a search, I do remember one...

    Disco 2 Need a rainbow.....

If getting your money back is an option, then I would certainly recommend that you do. There are loads of other D2s in better shape around that are looking for a new home and you're better off getting one with less issues than what you have now. Most of us are just DIYers with D2s in acceptable...

On what basis did he recommend the torque converter change if it's still driving and going through the gears like it was when you first got it?
