If the fuel is leaking from the suction part of the lift pump it would cause running problems, but I have no idea if the priming leaver shaft is on the suction side. Better to replace the lift pump and see.

Just been out in the peeeing rain bleeding the fuel system, as yesterday I ran it way too low and this evening it wouldn't start (I'm sure the fuel gauge isn't right as the light hadn't come on). It's running now but I'm wet through.

Finished welding up the rear cassis on my 300tdi, 6 area's cut out and new metal back in. It's been a long slog between breaks in the rain/wind, work out in the road. Tomorrow (weather permitting) I'll refit the springs and shocks and she's back on the road.

That's the rear and centre that I used, but I used this down pipe http://www.paddockspares.com/esr2297-front-pipe-300tdi-without-flexi.html as The felxy bit is normally the first part to go. But be warned it's quite a bit louder than the standard pipe, not hot hatch dustbin, but louder.
