Well the disco an it's air ingress put pay to me joining you guys today, an new fuel sender unit is on order but I'm gutted I missed another outing. Did you guys have fun ? Can we have some pictures. When are we out laning again next ?

I fitted a new lift pump today, but it's still drawing in air. So that's a new fuel line from tank to lift pump, new clear lines from lift pump to filter/filter to injection pump. The only thing left now is the tank sender unit which I have just ordered.

What happened ?

Some of the J**ps had the same 4 separate head engine, I think the later ones had the single head engine. Have you seen the price on just one of those heads :eek:

One of my co-pilots has offered to pay to get in, so I may be there, as long as my daughter moving house on Friday goes to schedule. So much to do, so little time, so little money, and on top of that I run a disco.

Just because the lift pump works (as in pumps fuel) it doesn't mean all is ok. I've just tracked down my bad running to the lift pump pulling in air. I knew air was in the system as the filter was not full of fuel, a clear pipe added from lift pump to injection pump showed air bubbles, after...

I'm really sorry to hear this, however for a lad your age it was a big undertaking. I'm sure someone on here will take it on. Arron, are you looking for your next project yet ?

I'd love to come, but we're on strict spending restrictions due to an impending vets bill.

Been having some running issues with my 300tdi, today I tracked it down it the lift pump pulling in air, new one is on order. I also noticed my rear diff is leaking, something else to sort.

Don't forget the cup holders, all the best cars have um.

I done some welding on the rear cassis the other month, took the hammer to everything to make sure I got it all, last week I found another small hole :rolleyes:

You can't hide a rust hole from a Landy owner, we're far to paranoid about rust for that.

And welding.

Why worry if you're going to make your own, just make a plate that will bolt to the bracket in the picture and run some steel bar back towards the one on the exhaust.

Could be a cracked head letting coolant into the combustion chamber, or timing belt slipped a tooth or two.

An LR owner with RAC/AA is playing it safe, an LR owner without is a gambling man.

Mine would start fine with normal running, but if I had been towing on long journeys (engine working hard for some time) the starter would be dead, nothing at all when turning the key until it cooled down a bit. Once I replaced the connector it's been fine for almost a year.

I had similar on my 300tdi, turned out to be a loose connector to the solenoid (is this what you call the exciter).
