Disco 1 White smoke and no power HELP!!

Hi guys

I've got some problems with my 300tdi as it is white smoking a lot with no power I was towing my boat on the beach, and she started to struggle as in black smoke and low power, then a load of white smoke beggings to come out under acceleration and there was no power. After taking the boat off the trailer there was no power as in I couldn't even get up the slipway and had to be towed home. I've left her cool over night and she was still smoking so I took the EGR valve off and cleaned it out, it was fairly black. However I have now put it back on and it hasn't made any difference, I've checked for any injection leaks and they aren't as well as checking the oil to see if the head had gone but it hasn't, the engine on tickover is also sounding fine.

Any ideas on what it could be would be really helpful as I've come to a dead end.

My first guess is an injector failed, pumping too much fuel so Suns rich on exceleration and too much fuel on tick so in burnt white smoke.

Try disconnecting from the fuel supply each injector in turn.

Could be a cracked head letting coolant into the combustion chamber, or timing belt slipped a tooth or two.

Fuel/air ratio has to be whack! Thats alot of black smoke too, simplest check might be any problem with the air supply, a block in the intake, or maybe inlet valves not up to scratch and getting enough air in there, im not sure, if its smokin, its chokin

Have you checked all the air intake pipes for any leaks/holes, especially the one to the turbo.

That looks like a split turbo hose. Not always visible at first glance. Take them off and bend them around to find the crack. You need to remember they are under alot of pressure, especially when towing.

Turbo hose would give black smoke but why does it run White at times? That said injector to me so very interested to see the result.
