    The new defender!

Landrover will never again release something simple without at least 10-20 computers, rounded soft corners and crumply bits. They are restrained by countless regulations, political demand and sales demand to produce what they have. If anyone wants a Defender as they used to be you need to...

    evoque backside issues

Sounds like a Haldex issue, Freelander 2’s and Evoque’s have them. It can be very expensive so if your still in a warranty of some sort get the ball rolling. The 4wd system comprises of a prop shaft from the front of the car, feeding into a hydraulic clutch pack and a rear differential. The...

    Spare tyre side mounting

I think same as flat, the bonnet is strengthened with some bolt in steelwork to take a spare. Wolf wheels were decided to be too heavy on the bonnets of wolfs (during trials) so got mounted on the side, but older military landys got their wheels upgraded and spare still on bonnet. This is the...

S2 Airportable - upper door hinges don't seem to fit right

Might be worth putting a pic of your hinges up to help people comment. Maybe something has bent the hinge in its distant past causing it to do it? My 110 tailgate has a ‘military field repair’ that functions fine but means the right hand catch doesn’t hold it tight when closed.

    Steel Wheel Overhaul

Nicely done, did the paint get right down into the rim where it meets the tyre?

CV Joint and Stub Axle Kits

If you go to Bearmach’s website you can buy kits and parts from them directly. I’ve just had 110 rear stub axle kits from them, very quick standard delivery.

    38KF96 Huddy’s Ex-Military 110

Drivers side completed with minimal fuss, except I found I’ve put the inner hub seal in the wrong way round. That can stay put for now though...

    38KF96 Huddy’s Ex-Military 110

A possible cause of one hub being contaminated, the flat of the spacer ring was part squashed meaning water could get in when wading

    38KF96 Huddy’s Ex-Military 110

And further dismantling confirmed manky bearings, despite being in fairly good condition, and a worn stub axle. At this point I decided the whole lot needed replacing both sides.

    38KF96 Huddy’s Ex-Military 110

Thought I’d re-start feeding pics and things into this thread. Had a bang and loss of drive a week ago thanks to a failed drive flange on the rear axle, absolutely rotten:(

hi there I am new to green laning

And read the advice first via that part of the forum. Go with a friend, group or club as if you come across difficulties at least another vehicle can pull you out or get you back to civilisation to arrange rescue. Alternatively try a pay and play site like Tixover (Facebook - Tixover Off Road Days).
