    1986 LR90 Parts Book

I would use the ‘87 on one, it covers the 2.5 petrol and diesel engines. The parts didn’t change much until nearer tdi production plus the chassis numbers covered in the ‘87 one covers ‘up to’ a chassis and ‘from’ a chassis so implies it covers them all.

    Better seats for my Lightweight?

Agreed with above, any very comfortable and modern seat won’t have the ability to give access and may not fit on the seat box. I would nosey round Exmoor Trim’s website as they have a few options.

    2.5na injection pump swap

That’s an expensive tool. The second time I removed an injection pump I managed to crack the pulley it was on so tight so be careful, suppose this tool should avoid that.

looking for a 2.5 na engine

Just keep an eye on eBay and Facebook, unless you want to spend loads on a remanufactured one from Turner’s

    Defender seats?

    2.5na injection pump swap

I’ve only done it at the same time as replacing the timing belt. In theory yes swap the pumps and it should be fine, but then you can fine-tune the pump timing either using its timing pin on the side or just by trial and error. The pump body can be rotated on the timing case to give this fine...

    Engine crane

On my standard defender I had to remove the radiator and panel as the sump wouldn’t clear it. Fed it between the wings carefully, on a N/A

    Rear cross member corrosion

I can’t tell from the picture where or what it is. Looks like a bolted in brace. Try the parts catalogue, link below courtesy of LR Direct website. http://new.lrcat.com/

    Slow diesel road test

It was the point I had to change into 4th I lost the power. I’m surprised it’s quicker at the low end than the 2.25 I thought the petrol would’ve faster

    Defender 90 fuel stop wiring!

I think it’s just a wire running from the ignition to the solenoid, in my case a white/black wire.

    Blower not working 300tdi defender.

I flooded mine but after liberal doses of wd40 it has worked ever since, over 5yrs now. It could be something has just blown like a soldered joint somewhere inside the motor.

    Slow diesel road test

Mines been 75mph, can still manage it now with a tail wind. Motorway driving it will sit at 65mph all day only dipping to 55 on hills because I can drop to 4th at that speed. It’s a gutless engine after 40-50mph but will just plod on and on.

    Slow diesel road test

Lol yeah, that’s a 70kg weight saving ;) plus I emptied some of the rubbish out the back. Maybe I should have pumped the tires up more. I do have my spare mounted for aerodynamic advantage

    Slow diesel road test

    Quiet road on the way to the shop earlier, have it a run. Blink and you’ll miss it lol. 20 - 3.5sec 30 - 9sec 40 - 15sec 50 - 29sec 60 - ~56sec https://www.dropbox.com/s/8sc2bpypekt6c83/Video%2017-04-2020%2C%2015%2053%2000.mov?dl=0

    Compression Interpretation

Was this for 0-60 time lol? Couple of failed attempts but I think I’ve solved my running issues recently and the roads are a bit quieter currently for a clean run. A few years ago my engine was so bad it was bleeding oil and would roll backwards on a hill in gear, but still managed 70. I just...

    Compression Interpretation

Just an opinion; It being a fairly old ran in engine with pretty close pressures I’d be quite pleased with that as a starter. If your rebuilding it anyway check the bore measurements and go from there wether it’s new rings or rebore.

Help needed to identify series 3 engine

It doesn’t look to be a LR diesel so a conversion of some sorts.
