    Land Rover series 3

I've already bought it. Cost me £8. But at least I'll have it! Unfortunately it's like a metal/nylon tube. The link: http://www.pegasusparts.co.uk/ourshop_90073/prod_1090941-ETC-4115-Vacuum-Advance-Pipe-Series-3-2-Petrol.html

To be honest the oil has sort of stopped! Which is great news, except the vacuum is now spurting out what looks like exhaust fumes, but I have a feeling that's because I haven't attached the vacuum advance to the carb yet. I need to buy the thin hose from Pegasus. No I don't have a brake servo...

Hi kommer, yeah I know it's for the advance, I need to buy the part off of Pegasus parts because that's the only place that sells the tiny hose. As far as I can see! But I chucked the other out as it has been damaged. :)

First photo is of where I had that vacuum thing connected and the second it the oil filler pipe with "overflow" type pipe going to the vacuum. It did work pretty well when it was connected... I just thought it may have been too smokey.. SO thanks a lot guys! Been a huge help. Especially...

Raytheman you're such a legend. I couldn't find anything like mine before. Now that makes sense! I did have it right with the pipe going to the oil inlet from the sucking vacuum thing! Thank you. Haha that's cleared it up. I think I just have to run it for a lot longer...

Sorry with the bombardment of messages but there was also a flame just now...

So I've tried to start it without the vacuum on, and without my finger over the hole, and with my finger over the hole. It just spits out air/oil gas. And it stalls.. You can see the gas in the photo

Looks ok to me... Not much oil. But it was really smokey before..

Ok.. But what about the pipe from the oil filler?

Do you mean like take off the vacuum thing and plug it with a finger?

    Land Rover series 3

Hi there, The top of the carburettor is already attached to the air inlet with the pipe from the air filter. But the vacuum comes off of the bottom of the carb and doesn't go anywhere... No the brakes are effectively mechanical, there is no servo or vacuum. This is not easy to sort! :P

    I meant attached not infected

    Land Rover series 3

Unfortunately I can't remember it ever being infected there.. I could give it a go.. But then where would the vacuum be connected? :/ and then there is a pipe coming off the metal part of the air inlet...

    Land Rover series 3

Oh ok. So you think I should just keep running it with the vacuum attached to the oil inlet pipe? T

    Land Rover series 3

Yeah well it was originally connected through the pipe from the air inlet on top of the carb. Which I removed so you could see the pipe from the top of the rocker cover. I don't see where on the crankcase it could be connected. I've had a good look around for alternatives. Any ideas of where...

    Land Rover series 3

Hi there, Thank you for replying! So I have 2 more photos of the parts I was talking about. The vacuum "smith and sons" being the first photo. When I attached it to the oil pipe it was just sucking gassy oil and making a lot of smoke when firing her up. If I was to connect the way you said...

    Land Rover series 3

Hi all! This is my first post. So, in the second photo, my hand is holding a vacuum on the left and a pipe that goes from the oil filler pipe in the first photo to the right of the second image. Does anyone know where the vacuum on the left is attached because it didn't look like it was...
