Ok thanks. After posting the question I had think about what the disco is likely to need for mot and it comes to about £600 in parts so I'll probably weigh it in at mot time. What system is best for the rangie and can sort suspension issues?

Calm yourself, I will also look in to fitting an exhaust gas temperature gauge to keep an eye on things. If it dies soon after I will have to move to a different car because as it is, its not really up to the job of heavy, regular towing. I do like the car though so if I can make it more...

It's definitely not a slipping clutch. Everything is standard and I very much suspect the engine is putting out the power it is supposed to. There are a few hills around here but nothing mental. I'll keep an eye out for a cheap 1.4 and see if that helps

How does it cope when it's in low then? Only does about 20mph in faith gear.
