Got a whole lot of tins of Dinitrol cavity wax (ML) and black underbody wax (4941) along with a spray gun and lance. Next step is to get hold of an air compressor.
I have never owned or used an air compressor before, hence asking for some advice on here. First issue is do I buy one, hire one...
Nice, looking forward too seeing some pics! As sagely suggested, give it a full going over, top to bottom, change all filters/fluids, lube prop, treat any rust.
Enjoy your new truck!
It will need programming with the injector codes and the immobiliser, anyone close to you with either a Hawkeye or Nanocom can do it for you. Might be worth looking on the LZIR map and see if anyone around can help.
Also I believe the ECU is transmission sensitive also? (I could be wrong) So...
Had a minor drip drip drip of diesel from the fuel pressure regulator since I got the Disco 2, I bought a new one along with the gasket and the filter O ring a couple of weeks ago. Today I decided to fit it. What was a bit confusing was the FPR had clearly been replaced before as it was of the...
I spent £76 at Paddocks for the stainless steel version, although also decided to get new gasket and nuts/bolts along with a new exhaust mounting rubber. Figured I would rather have these parts and not need them than find I don't have them when I do need them.
Having been D2 searching recently for quite some time I can perhaps offer a few thoughts. I started looking within a budget of up to 10K and therefore visited and test drove about 5 D2's, all facelift models with values between 7.5k - 10k. I had a very good poke around with 4 of them, 1 was...
Mine is an earlier 2001 so had non-programmable chip therefore cost was £250.00 to get a ready soldered ECU put in it's place. I believe it is £225.00 if you already have the later chip.
Mike also checked things like the injector balance and the MAF sensor, he also located an exhaust leak at...
Following reading so many positive reviews on here it sold me on the idea of getting my Disco II reprogrammed. I called Mike at Dynachip on Monday and he arrived today to do his stuff.
I have to say, I was still a bit sceptical about any performance difference as we can all have a tendency to...
Fitted a replacement radiator top hose due to stupid little plastic bleed screw snapping off inside, then spent 20 minutes bleeding the system to put as much coolant in as what came out. Got a slight leak on what seems to be the plastic return hose from the radiator to the expansion tank, going...
Following recommendations on here I decided to go with a Dynachip remap also, he is coming on Wednesday to work his magic. Never had a remap'ed car before so was fairly sceptical but reading on this forum has sold me on getting it done.
Couple of possibilities that spring too mind:
Air Filter might need replacing.. this can have a dramatic effect on performance if it is old and grubby.
EGR valve stuck open, I know from first hand experience that this will badly hurt performance. I removed mine completely with a kit.
Turbo to...
Thanks for confirmation. Going to attempt this myself I think, will try and hire a very large torque wrench for the hub nut. Going to check all the other wheels also.
Following on from yesterday when I got the three amigos, Hawkeye gave me an ABS error code to the effect of: Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor - inconsistent speed whilst driving - broken wire. I cleared the fault and drove a short distance today, moment I turned the three amigos came back...
Eek, hopefully it is not the whole hub assembly that needs replacing. Looking at the haynes manual it looks fairly onerous. However, since posting earlier.. I revisited the collection of invoices that came with the car, I notice one scribbled entry from 2 years ago that the RH and LH front speed...
Thanks, looking at manufacturers now.
A wholly new problem appeared this evening, on turning left I got the three amigos. Out came Hawkeye and see 1 logged fault on ABS of: 4084 - HISTORICAL Sensor Right Hand Front (intermittent sensor output during driving, broken wire).
There does not...
What an asshat, hopefully it has done considerable damage to his vehicle also and he can be traced. I am full of rage just looking at that given the fact that the coward fled without leaving a note.
Sincerely hope there is security footage.
