    Which Tyres ?

Basically it comes down to a road tyre or a AT tyre , Continental Xcontact AT was a good compromise, but size availability is not as wide as it was , All the road type tyres are much of a muchness , its a balance between cost and longevity . Ive put these on in the past and they seem to...

Please Help!! Auto gearbox problem? Limp Mode. Td4 Freelander

f4 is basically telling you gearbox is in limp mode, its not a good idea to drive when it is as depending on what is wrong can cause more damage. The fault code can be read, and that should tell you what needs changing ie sensor or solenoid in gearbox .Can be done with box in car . The ccu...

    An interesting V8 110 CSW?

If its had outriggers and a rear x member then the rest of the chassis would be getting a bit thin in places as well , would be a good starting point for a complete rebuild JMHO

    Adding extra lights- the legislation

You have almost got it right , you can only have one pair of dipped obligatory on at any one time , other than in conditions of reduced vis , when you can have a set of fogs on as well with provisos as to positioning if you then switch off the obligatory headlights. HTSH

    'Ambidextrous' lights on an overlander

Depending on the year of the vehicle its illegal , I had a 2a a couple of decades or more ago , and did the same , so in calais (usually) flick a switch and the other set were selected (LHD) but you have to have the LHD lamps in the wings , and landys after IIRC 1969 had to have lights in wings...

    Freelander 1 locked out

Have you tried turning the front door key right twice ? Thats to the right back to middle and then to right again If it doesnt work then probably the link from key to latch has been broken (not unusual) during a latch swap, as it should work as it does not require lecky unlike all the other...

Parking the 6-Wheel Drawbar Trailer With A Front Towbar

It looks like you have the tow ball in the middle of the car , its quite advantageous to put it on the left side in line with chassis leg , that way you can see down one side of trailer when going straight , whereas at the moment its hard to see down any side . JMHO

Hi All Why would someone clip the wings and turn 4x4 into 2x4

What year and engine , as putting it right might not be a very cost effective exercise , by the time you have sorted it all properly might be cheaper to buy one thats OK to go , and getting rid of what you have ?

    Freelander central locking fault

The door lock latches are common . so just take one out and put new in . They are all controlled by the CCU on rear of fuse box. IF you had to change that then the fobs would need re programming , otherwise no. The door latches contain two motors , one does normal locking and the other does...

    CCU swap?

Well all sorted , the CCU are a NLA part from Landrover . but several are superceded part numbers . so 000492 , 493 and 494 which go to 500210 and 211 are interchangable on 5 door TD4 AFAICS , was able to program the plippers with Hawkeye so all fully operational now. :)

    Defender Auto

It is really necessary to use the inhibitor switch to prevent start in drive or reverse as both could be very dangerous. The idea of using a spare waning light for N or P is a good one as will not need to rely on the quadrant illumination so much . As previous poster, the rev wiring is easy...
