    Defender Auto

then you just use the transfer box drive that your vehicle originally had as that will probably be closest with tyres , final drive and transfer box high ratio . If you use the discovery one it under reads by about 10% FME

    Defender Auto

IIRC you need a TD5 speedo in the defender and then use the td5 transmitter in the transfer box , and take a supply from the td5 speedo to the edc ecu . HTSH

    Engine Swaps into a D90

If you go the BMW route , then you will need a p38 manual bellhousing , and input shaft . This will fit to a r 380 which in turn will bolt to a LT230 . I fitted a M57 ex 530d engine , uses TD5 rad and i/cooler . From my pov it wasn't that difficult , bur as previous posters say depends on...

Locking axle diffs - which ones for me?

Crazy Knobbly isnt needed , but would say a self cleaning mud terrain tyre is , as even with difflocks , if the tyres dont bite you still dont go anywhere. Lim slips usually lose their effectiveness over time, but are fully auto. The no spin or detroit locker are also automatic , but as...

new heaters - has anyone fitted one of these

Its a long time ago now , but I always found the standard smith heater OK , I did fit another modified old minivan heater in the rear of a 109 diesel I had . The biggest single improvement is making sure the engine thermostat is operating to spec , and then use a Rad Muff either a fancy bought...

It appears Land Rover main stealer has ****ed me over. Advice Please

How do you know that they didnt fit the spigot bush and release bearing , as they would be easy enough to fit if they changed the flywheel and clutch , on many engines the bush/bearing is fitted in the flywheel anyway. Might be a good idea to get the facts established before thinking about...

    Manual vcu conversion

How about modification of a honda CRV rear diff to replace the rover unit , as then you could just have a solid prop , and the honda unit is pretty much bomb proof , a fluid change usually sorts when it gets a bit juddery. ?

    Freelander 1 Looking for 3 door TD4

Alibro answer several :( but its all in how you go about it a bit like horse whispering From experience when it comes to driving using their professed multi tasking capabilities they invariably love automatics once they have received the right training , none intended :) you can take...

Freelander 1 Low pressure fuel pump continually runs. Engine won't start

look on youtube for injector leak off test , they should all be about the same so if one is doing more then thats the one , cant remeber exact spec for Freelander :(

    Freelander?

pretty much concur with GGel , I run a freelander in 2wd , as a nice commuter vehicle , if I need 4wd I have two defenders , if you are happy with a two wheel drive Freelander then you can get one cheap, but don't buy with the idea of fixing to 4wd as often its not cost effective, also with what...

Freelander 1 I have a TD4 2003 freelander, today as I was driving along the dual carriage way it felt like my car

If you can get a OBD hook up , it will tell you if you have low pressure , as you correctly surmised it wont start with low pressure , to protect the final high pressure pump. Doesnt explain the smoke from exhaust part , although that could indeed be an injector , and that would also show up on...

Freelander 1 I have a TD4 2003 freelander, today as I was driving along the dual carriage way it felt like my car

trying to diagnose at distance on someones description , is somewhat tricky . I notice you mention you serviced 5 weks ago , have you physically checked since the incident ? do you have a plug in diagnostic , as you could then get fault codes that would help steer you in right direction . What...

Have you checked coolant level ,oil level ? Driving the car home has probably finished off the engine ! If you didnt know what was wrong why did you keep driving ?

    diesel burner

Its a webasto FBH they were fitted to bmw engined freelanders as standard to start with , but then they were made an option on all models except the top ones like premium ES , If its emitting a lot of smoke its probably got an ignition problem , They are switched automatically by a temp sensor...

    LEZ compliance....

look at your vin the 7th letter needs to be a "B" with a 90 or an "M" with a 110 , and in the log book (V5) it needs to say estate , not utility . If the first doesn't apply its very difficult to get the second if its not already listed as such.
