I'm thinking of refilling oil to be honest and initially seeing if the noise has gone , if it has , I might be able to cope for a while , there was very little oil in gearbox so a full box might help also , I'll give it a go and see , thanks

Ok , done a bit of research , appears to be a synchro clip , there's a rumour this can be replaced without removing the gearbox , does anyone have any knowledge of this ?

Ok , took out sump plug , a few fine bits of metal and this strange clip. Can anyone identify it please ? , I've put it back together in the second picture it's about 1.5 inch long , and the two ends are bent to a right angle

I can't quite figure out what had gone on with the downpipe to manifold studs are screwed tight but you can rock it left and right , I'm assuming there's a crack in the join somewhere.

Believe me if the manifold doesn't need to come off its not coming off , im worried about getting the exhaust bolts off ! Thanks for advice

Ok , I've lifted one of the back wheels and when turned the diff makes a bit of a scraping noise but nothing like when I drive , I might try and remove propshaft tomorrow just to check , betting bolts are seized but heres hoping

Ok , so the new year starts with New frustrations , I've raised the front and wheels and rotated them and the noise doesn't happen , as discussed I'll remove the tunnel soon as get someone to look at the gearbox whilst I'm driving , also I'll probably change the gearbox oil and see if it helps.

ill see what I can find out ,I might take the tunnel off whilst having a drive , ill definitely turn rear wheels and try and recreate the noise , ill also check loose bonnet , you never know.
