    bumpers, bumperettes and steps/sliders

Ok, sorry I think I've cause a bit of confusion with having all 3 items in the same thread. These are my imagines scenarios and where the items fits in: Sliding sideways into gateposts is the steps/ rock sliders questions. Reversing into a nobbly tree, or other irregular shaped farming object...

    bumpers, bumperettes and steps/sliders

Ok. Good to know. Looks like I'm back to bumperettee or nothing at the back then. Lots of comments saying they don't offer real corner protection.... Is that because they're limited in surface area, or because they're just structurally weak?

Cheers for the offer chap, but no that's about the size I expected. Yeah, perhaps the position is the bigger factor. I've asked on the Sankey fb group whether or not it's possible to get the height right with a nas rear bumper, but I worry the trailer would nose-down too much (camping trailer)...

Perhaps least non standard would be a more fitting description of the aim them, given that the standard corner protection is nothing. I considered the nas rear step, but it looks like it limits options on height for towing, which would be a concern when towing a Sankey wide track.

Understand that BB. If you check the OP, I've not really mentioned anything about military bumpers, so I'm not really sure how this got so excited. Perhaps these topics are just more controversial than I realised.

    bumpers, bumperettes and steps/sliders

so I think I was trying to suggest a quality question when it comes to the likes of paddock/craddock/rimmer, but don't worry if you didn't pick up on that. Also, I dont tend to call people nob's when I'm being friendly... just an fyi. It has been noted on the forum perviously, how much extra...

oh the pin wont make any noise... it's the whacking great rectangular hole ;) it's an option if I can't find a nice suitable new option.

    bumpers, bumperettes and steps/sliders

I've not found anyone selling new military bumpers - or at least not without space for a winch and a load of daft tow hooks stickout out of the front to nobble pedestrians. I like the idea of the tow point on the front, but I would also worry about the extra wind noise it might add. Perhaps...

    Defender hardtop new speakers

well, one thing at a time I suppose, but believe me - I started off knowing nothing about anything in terms of mechanics, and then a few years on, I'm building a defender from scratch. It's the easiest form of anything automotive basically. You take normal modern car and try and do half of these...

    bumpers, bumperettes and steps/sliders

Hi All, I thought I'd lump all 3 of these things into one thread to save everyone's sanity. as part of my 110 rebuild, I need a new bumper, some side step (3 door), and some sort of protection for the rear corners. bumperettes: I've seen a few around and the ones made from 2 tubes seem to be...

    Defender hardtop new speakers

don't be put off by it.... it's a lot less of a job than in a normal car. google the crap out of it, you'll see how little there is to it. I think it was even covered in the one of the mags a couple of months ago when they did an article on retrimming your own dash
  13. farmershort

    Defender hardtop new speakers

well you'd start by taking the dash out :) so you wouldnt have that worry

    Defender hardtop new speakers

The tweets int he dash would be easy enough, as you can get surface mount ones which you just attach to the A pillar trim. The mids would be the things which require cutting. can't think of a way around it unless you can find lo If you go down this route, see if you can pick up a cheap 2nd...

    Defender hardtop new speakers

I had time to sit at a computer finally, and found these more helpful links: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=surface+mount+pioneer+pod+speaker&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=E4ziVvmhE4mya6OqoRA When I fitted them they went pretty centrally behind each seat (on the bulkhead), and were low...

    Defender hardtop new speakers

if you're going for the full audio geek thing, isn't it usually: tweets on the dash or a-pillar, 4" - 5.25" in the door or under the dash, and then 6x9 on the parcel shelf (which we dont have of course). but that would all be amp driven from a stereo with pre-outputs. if you're not going down...

    Defender hardtop new speakers

As a "something different", have a Google for "pioneer pod speakers". I installed these behind the seats on the bulkhead in my first 200tdi 110 year ago. Perhaps not the most audiophile option, but there was no denying that they were plenty loud and clear enough, and better quality than my saab...
