Wonder if the turbo version is noisy.....heard others say its a noisy motor. I didn't want a turbo series landrover....so when I fitted my 200 it was without the turbo. I am not lying.....to me the 200di is quieter than my old 2.25d that I ran for 40 years. I open the bonnet....and its still...

Will be no flow till the stat opens....you need an infra red thermometer tells you how hot the thermostat housing is....needs to be getting on to 80c to open.

Avoid brit part if you can....were about are you.....

Can I ask what your paid for it.....would it be worth considering buy another in much better condition considering your limited skills. Could work out way more cost effecting. Sorry to be negative.

As stated a touch of black smoke on higher RPM is to be expected....if it were to advanced you would see more.... When you next cold start it it will give you a clue....just a small bit of blue smoke that clears when warmed up is about prefect for me.

The occasion mis at low rpm is a sign of retarded pump timing.....if you go for a run and the engine sounds harsh and knock at higher RPM its to advanced....running over advanced is not good for the motor....more load on the big end bearings ect.

Think my top hose is std....bottom hose is just one cut in half....will look later.

Did over 200,000 miles with my 2.25d.....dont miss it one little bit since fitting my 200di.

Thank your lucky stars you dont have a more modern car with an ECU ect ect.....you could now have a bill exceeding £1000. Exactly the same will happen if you connect jump lead back to front......£££££££££££££££££££££££££££

Looks better than flei hose as well.

I cut my std S3 hose in half....with the aid of a suitable distance section of suitable sided metal tube joined back together....allows lots of choice then for different angle.

Any particular reason you want a 109.....quite clumsy in comparison to an 88"....very poor steering lock....more weight to drag around....less economical. But none of that matters if its what you want.

Alternator +2.....anything electronic ie radio if switched on or maybe its permanently on.....and other electronic gadgets.

I have a S3....fitted defender type mirrors years ago....best mirrors so far....in 50 years of ownership I have tried lots of different mirrors. Its easy to modifie the S3 top hinge....drill 2 holes and a bit of filing id req on the back of the hinge....10mins per hinge.

Sounds like your nearly there....grey smoke well usualy blue is a sign of retarded timing. as long as your sure you have the pump drive gear in the correct place....only turn the pump 1mm at a time and test....keep advanceing the the motor sounds a bit knocky under load....back off the timing or...
