Fitted mine years ago.....got a set of 3 from the rear off an old Golf. Fitted the reel part to the inner side of the top rail.....has to sit on the same angle as it does in the car or the jam. Prob got some pics if your interested.

Try not to expose bare ali....if you do you should use etch primer. When I brush painted....I just threw it on....had the whole thing done in a few hours....looked great....thing the paint down....dont want to to thick.

Maybe a good time to concider converting to parabolic spring.....much better with a big weigh saving.....dont by imported or rocky mountain.

Surprised they told you that....just a thought....maybe high grade food or marine SS is not suitable for higher temp applications ie durability.cracking ect....as I say just a thought....I have no idea really.. Did double S say why they have down graded???

Think mine is double S been on for maybe 20 years.....still perfect....in my opinion.....bar a sort of maybe sand paper feel.....its no longer shiney....but I suspect it will out live me....the rear box is very shiny....to me it looks odd under a landrover. Think there used to be a company...

When you say higher quality...what do you mean.....a stainless system that will last many years but may not be shiny.....or one that will stay shiny and last many years???? Or a good quality mild steel system....if there is such a thing.

Have a look at the front axle see if it has a drive shaft to it.....not many made. A non 4x4 Landrover.

I bought a good priced SS sys years ago...20++ looks rusty.....but its only surface rust very light coating.....its still very very sound....I was surprised at first the finish..seems cosmetic only. The weak points are the flanges....only mild steel. One failed on the box....contacted to...

Is it a 2 wheel drive landrover.....mersey tunnels had quite a few.

One of the reasons I fitted my 200 as a DI to my 1975 88".....fitted without the turbo. The engine looks quite in keeping under the bonnet and a nice std exhaust sys running from a 2.25d exhaust manifold. Retained oil bath air filter and batt under bonnet. All very practical for my situation.

Re taking the slack out of the steering....its important to do it with the wheels in the straight ahead position..just nip up the square adjuster nut....no more almost with your fingers till you feel it stop.

Far as I know....not with out risking a damage gasket at its end plate..... Why do you want it out? Could syringe it out.

Seems like you guys have not heard of the TV prog bangers and cash.....its an auction house in yorkshire for classic cars....has Landrover content sometimes..a lot of Landrover guys are into classic cars.... Not I am not selling anything....its simply a heads up hope that clarifies.
