    Brechfa (Wales) Laning trip 21/4/12

Looks like a good day was had, and nice to see the "racetrack" is back open again. (Thats the one with the hairpins, only reopened about 2 or 3 weeks ago after months of negotiations with the farmer) Maybe a bit fast on the flooded sections?, although great fun pics like that do us no...

Not sure about the "Perkins" addition there?? The Landrover 300Tdi is a belt driven engine, I know this cos the front of mine (also a 96 300Tdi Disco) is apart just now ready for a new belt and one new push rod!!

New to Disco - A few pointers

Simplist one for the oil leak is to give the engine and bay a really good hot pressure wash to get the crap off and run it, looking closely for where its coming from. There is no sure fire way of knowing if its lifted? short of comparing to someone elses that has new suspension so you have...

warn winch and albright solenoid advice

Yeh, which is what I have as well, but they are inside the bridge housing so to speak, I'd put it down to damp on the connectors rather than inside the solenoid, causing a short maybe? Dunno, just know WD40 and warming it up worked a treat!

warn winch and albright solenoid advice

Has it been idle for a while? Mine did something similar after being idle for a month and I whacked a load of WD40 into the solenoid housing and worked it till it was warm, seems to have sorted it!

    Help needed with trialing

What you need to look for is a CCV (Cross Country Vehicle) trial, as opposed to an RTV trial (Road Taxed Vehicle) The other thing to consider is age. How old is he? I know many clubs don't allow younger drivers, The club I trial with won't allow trialing until you hold a licence, even though...

I love it when people don't pander to anyone! Welcome Dave, I have an LRO subscription, but must say, they have too many adverts, especially that bunch of idea stealing t**ts that have big orange adverts and never put prices on them!! I used to have an LR Monthly subscription but got...

    Dodgy 110 on ebay

OK, strictly speaking that may well be the case, and I don't think its right. If you are replacing like for like, albeit refurbished from another vehicle of similar age then I see no issue. The crucial bit is the like for like!! If you have an 88 inch tax exempt chassis that is rotted...

    Dodgy 110 on ebay

Check the points and how it works guys, replacing an item like for like is fine, and upgrading to something like a Tdi is also fine as you still retain the majority of the original vehicle. Even getting a new chassis is fine, as long as it is NEW, if its not, then you should use the reg and...

Where to get a good tool set for a Disco

Yep, i'd agree with that. Most of my stuff is Halfords pro range, nowt wrong with the quality. On top of that a Difflock prop shaft tool, a hub nut spanner from lots of different places and a grease gun and roberts you mothers brother!!

    anyone running alternative fuel

Thats what i'm planning on fitting into my lines. Already got one that was supplied with my twin tank kit but that has gone on the diesel line from the start tank, plan to put one in the main tank line, if nothing else it gives you a window to see what is happening?

    anyone running alternative fuel

I ran my 200 on deisel veg oil mix, then went to petrol veg oil mix! 95% oil, 5% petrol all year round! Now run my 300 on 100% veg as I have it twin tanked

    Ex Coastguard Landy

LOL, do you remember the last one we had?? Light bar would fall back, doors would open by themselves cos of the chassis flexing, damn thing was held together by luck and a prayer!! Still great piece of kit compared to the Brava we got then!! Even the highlux is better than that!!

    Re bodying a Cat C

It really depends on the view of your local VOSA office! If you are altering the chassis, then you head down the IVA route potentially. Shortening it then definately, but stay at 100 inch then all you will be doing is altering outriggers to accomodate the new body work and then it becomes...
