    GFT MT 82 gearboxes

There were quite a few reports on here about issues with the box back in 2007/2008. Seems to have dried up now though. I guess it takes time for bugs to be ironed out with any component as complex as a gearbox. :scratching_chin:

    GFT MT 82 gearboxes

Hence why I think that when it comes to LR engine & box combinations, the buck stops at the 300 Tdi (non EDC) & R380. 300 Tdi -- ultimate combination of simplicity and reliability. R380 -- stronger than the LT77 and more useable. Together, pretty much unbeatable in Landy terms. Which is why...

    GFT MT 82 gearboxes

Yep, same engine used in the Mondeo, Galaxy, S-Max, Citroen C5, C6, C8, Pug 407, 607, 807. Pretty good little lump! Just hardly fixable in the field with a hammer and roll of gaffa tape.

    GFT MT 82 gearboxes

When the Puma was first released, there were a lot of problems with the early MT82s. Early failures, noisyness, grinding gears, jumping out of gear etc. Think that's been fixed now, but, as has been mentioned, I would suspect the long term longevity won't match the R380 or even LT77.

Td5 won't rev and loads of black smoke.

As far as I remember, it's just under the front center seat. Not sure about your Snap On gizmo. Worth a try though

Td5 won't rev and loads of black smoke.

Hello Langer, I'm your plural alter-ego, Langers :D Know anybody with a plug-in diagnostics machine? Might be an idea to pull some fault codes off it and see what the ECU is thinking... :scratching_chin:

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fitted a good used rear differential to the pee-thirty-eight day before yesterday. Got tired of it sounding like a screaming banshee above 50mph. Nice n quiet now :) Today's job... get the 300 Tdi nestled nicely in the engine bay of the 110, on the new engine mounts and preferably connected...

defender r380 gearbox change with disco r380

I recently acquired a good used Defender R380 quite cheaply on eBay. They are around, you just need to keep an eye open. Much easier to change your box with a like-for-like replacement, rather than ****ing around with a Disco one. Jmho

What an animal... love the bumper and twin spare wheels on the back. I want it more than you! :p:D

    300 Tdi flywheel housing (bolts)

Hi all Trying to source the four lower bolts for a manual 300 Tdi flywheel housing. They are the ones which bolt through the flywheel housing into the engine mounts at the bottom. On both Microcat and the 1987 onwards parts catalogues, the flywheel housing shown for a 300 Tdi looks like...

What mileage is your Range Rover P38 on? (1994 to 2002)

208,000 on my 1995 DSE. On its 2nd engine though. No leaks!

    2.5 N/A to 3.9 V8 EFi Conversion

Don't know which crossmember you need... but it wouldn't be difficult to fabricate your own, even if you're only very average with a welder. Big bit of box section and a few bolts would do lovely ;) Would love to see a video of the conversion. What's the power like? :D

    Budget Tyres

Rip off imitation of the original BFG mud terrain pattern. Same as the Insa Turbo Dakar. Decent off road, although they do lack sidewall tread, and a mate who had them (since upgraded to Cooper STTs) found they didn't like climbing out of ruts due to that. Other than that, good all rounder and...

    Budget Tyres

I had 235/85/R16 Saharas on my old 110, and they were very loud - pretty much every passenger I had in it commented or remarked on the noise. On my current 110, I am running 315/75/R16 (35") Hankook Dynapro MT tyres (about twice the size of the Saharas!) and they are far quieter. Even at...

    Budget Tyres

For the record, Saharas are NOT quiet by any means. They are an aggressive pattern and you can definitely hear them on the road at any speed over 40mph.

33" / 35" Baja Claw Tyres on a Defender 110. How much lift?

One thing that I would say though is that Baja claws are quite 'big' for their size; i.e. they're often a lot taller than other tyres which are supposedly the same size. So add that into your calculations...

33" / 35" Baja Claw Tyres on a Defender 110. How much lift?

Running 315/75/R16 (equivalent to 35") Hankook Dynapro M/T on my 110 at the moment. It is currently on a very soft 2" Terrafirma lift, and has an extremely heavy front bumper haha. Have fitted extended arches, and the tyres rub slightly off road when articulating and turning at the same...

    The moon and back

207,000 on my 2.5 DSE Range Rover P38. On its second engine though. Still drives spot-on though. Only 126,000 on the 110 though. It will be on its third engine (that I know of...) by next week...:D

    2.5N/A to 200tdi conversion

Ah excellent, very neat indeed. Think this is the way I'll go. On my last conversion, I got Pirtek to 'professionally' extend my existing pipes for £70. All looked well until I installed them and started the engine for the first time, when they immediately ****ed out oil  They did...
