New defender oil and filter changes

Hopefully not any more with the new one! Only heard of one engine failure with the new 3.0 The old 3.0 V6 was a Ford unit and nearly broke Land Rover.

New defender oil and filter changes

The 3.0 lngenium inline six cylinder (as fitted to new Defender) doesn't suffer from crankshaft failure like the Discovery 3.0 V6 did. However l would definitely recommend the oil and filter is changed before 21,000 miles. l had mine changed at 5,000 miles, then 10,000. After that l will get it...

Velar DPF clean killed my car

lt looks like the Velar D300 has the 3.0 six cylinder lngenium, certainly from 2020. This engine shouldn't suffer from a clogged or blocked DPF, even on short journeys. l used my Defender D250 (same engine) all day every day driving between customers, for two years, sometimes less than a mile...

Velar DPF clean killed my car

This kind of failure isn't confined to Land Rover. There's a lot of issues with DPF clogging and oil dilution with the VW 2.0 diesel, particularly when used for short journeys

    DEFENDER 90 PICKUP

Prices have fallen sadly, l was looking at a lovely 2011 Puma X S Station Wagon today for sale at £10,500 Mileage was 150,000 and l think that kills the value on the Puma

    Defender L663 review !

The new Defender makes more sense as a Commercial Vehicle. Let's say you buy one at £60,000 Claim the VAT back and it's £48,000 Then you'll get tax back on the purchase price, probably around £12,000 in total. So that makes the vehicle around £36,000 And over time it's likely to retain its...

    Defender L663 review !

AUGUST 2024 UPDATE The New Defender is still fault free and running perfectly. There's nothing really to report. l changed the tyres for some more off-road oriented ones. l've sprayed clear wax based rust prevention on everything underneath. lt will probably benefit someone in 15 years time...

    Wanted- Defender 90 300TDi or TD5 £15k budget

Don't worry too much about mileage, go on condition. 150,000 miles or more is fine if it's otherwise a good one. Obviously if you see one that's done less than 100,000 it's worth a look, but there's no guarantee that it will be any better than the 150,000 miler.

    Wanted- Defender 90 300TDi or TD5 £15k budget

There's plenty for sale in that budget. Ebay doesn't look great though. Have a look on Auto Trader, currently a few nice looking TD5 County/XS Station Wagons around the £12-14k mark. Quite a few TDi's £12-14,000 but only a couple are genuine Station Wagons.

l didn't think the TD5 was as prone to rust as the earlier models.

l hope someone rescues it. Remarkably it passed its last MOT in late 2023 with no advisories.

This one needs some love. The bulkhead has completely gone. But its certainly cheap, if you can change the bulkhead yourself. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186480804323?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=MlAT5FnqSom&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=Cj4IjO6GTG6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

LANDROVER SCAM .. 5 sunbeam street wolverhampton..ebay ..smart reconditioning

I guess not then. I had a look on Ebay this evening and it's awash with adverts for engine reconditioning, companies been on Ebay for years with hundreds of 100% feedback but when you look at the feedback it's for random stuff or doesn't come up "no relevant feedback available" is one message l...

What money should I be asking?

Definitely agree, yes. May sell to someone in (say) London who had to dispose of their Defender TDCi

What do you think of this Defender

Well it's still for sale, l think the market for Defenders at this price must have dried up somewhat. lt certainly has round here according to my local LR specialist. Although l can't imagine you'd find a better TDCi Defender than this one.

What do you think of this Defender

You're right. And don't even start on the discussion as to whether the Puma "Utility" five seat 110 is a "Commercial Vehicle" with HMRC.

What do you think of this Defender

l've spoken with my accountant and it's not straightforward. The figures don't work very well for this exchange. lf l sell the new Defender Commercial now (it's worth around £46,000) l will get a tax bill of around £10,000. As it's owned by my Limited Company and l claimed tax back on the...

What do you think of this Defender

l assume it was taken over to France when new, and then given the French equivalent of an MOT every year. And then it had its first U.K. MOT when it was brought back to the U.K.

What do you think of this Defender

l have to say l am not a great fan of the Ford TDCi engine, had one in a Transit some years ago. The economy was poor, and it never really ran perfectly. However it was still going at 100,000 miles so not all bad.

What do you think of this Defender

lt's lived in France at a chateau and been serviced annually despite the low mileage. Over 1,000 of the mileage was just driving it to France when it was new, and back again on sale. l haven't actually viewed the vehicle, the seller is right down on the South Coast and l am in Manchester
