Ones days motoring isn't a large enough sample size to claim reliability! I remember reading about the worlds highest mileage car owner who explained the key to cheap and reliable motoring is reading and actioning the maintenance schedule.
Looking to purchase used shaft with yoke, which I then intend to install new uj's into.
Reason being shaft recently gave way, damaging the yoke, also.
I'm based in several places, mainly central and east Scotland.
For Disco 2, not defender in pic.
If your motor has sat for few months before giving it a run prior to mot and you suspect the rings are ceased pour a tablespoon of kerosene on the top of the pistons and leave overnight. Sometimes frees them up.
Thanks for the link. As its getting towards sunset I'm going to just try with hosepipe and luck. If I have to put together without it and it goes whilst driving I've not lost anything. Drove it 80 miles today without clutch pedal anyway!
In a bit of a foolish situation
Pulls out the slave cylinder rod from the bellhousing with long nose pliers and the clutch fork retaining clip came with it.
First time doing a slave cylinder replacememt .
Suspecting I've put myself in a gearbox off situation?
I just can't work out how to get...
I'm not an engineer, and I'm a novice with defenders.
My intention with this post is therefore not to show off, it is purely to help others in future with the same perceived problem.
I honestly thought I was going to have to grind down a 13mm spanner to be narrow enough to undo the nuts on...
I'm going to fix the problems I'm having with this defender then sell on with a clean conscience then buy a military release.
Toyed with the idea before but didn't want the military paintwork
Now I've been stung by a dealer I've realised military release is best value for money and get it...
Thanks for the info. Considering cutting out the cross beam between chassis rails and welding plates to the end so it bolts on so can be removed easier. Bit dissapointed in the design of the machine. Loads of space in engine bay yet not designed with fast maintenance in mind at all. Just look at...
Have you tried a road test after bypassing all fuel lines and filters by directly feeding the pump from a jerry can? That will help you decide to look at engine side or fuel side
