I have checked the gear box oil level and that's fine and whilst I was scrauming under The Tart I found one of the U bolts that hold the axle to the springs had come off which explains the knocking I got going down some local lanes,Oh what a pleasure it is to own a Land Rover.Any more ideas on...

:( I am by no means a mechanic but I used to do as much as possible on Mushy mainly due to cash flow and did at one stage have the gear box out to fit a new lay shaft so it wouldn't be too daunting a task to do it myself but I would like to know what the most likely cause of the problem is...
