    Air conditioning pump clutch failure

Hmmm. I was under the impression there was oil in the pump other than the refrigeration fluid used for cooling. Perhaps I am wrong. The garage will empty and then top up the coolant fluid I'm sure. As for a loss, I think there might have been a small loss as the cooling has been becoming less...

    Air conditioning pump clutch failure

Thanks for that. Jamesmartin. Another little point, when the pump arrived it was full of oil. I believe this is more than the measured amount that may be required. Presuming the current pump has had fluid loss due to the bearing heat up when the clutch went ping and therefore the amount within...

    Air conditioning pump clutch failure

Hi. The clutch on my A/C pump has failed and I need to replace the pump. What I need to know is, if I replace the pump, remove the pump fuse so that the A/C dashboard switch cannot be activated in error, can I drive the vehicle straight to the garage to get the fluid filled up without damaging...

    Wiered electrical starting fault

I think you are dead right sierrafery. All three of those earth wires were slightly loose so they got sprayed and tightened. I replaced the injector loom about 2 years ago when I wa getting a miss fire but will get another one in as a stand by just in case as they are not expencive. Thanks again.

    Wiered electrical starting fault

Ok guys. I took the ECM or whatever you call it out from behind the battery box and disconnected the black and red terminals. There was some oil on the bottom half of the red terminal which got well cleaned, air pressured and sprayed. The black terminal was clean but got the same any way. All...

    Wiered electrical starting fault

Ok. I get the message about shorts. I take it the ECM is the one behind the battery box sierafery. I don't have anything under me drivers seat except the CD autoexchange Mr. Noisy. I will pull the ECM out tomrrow and check for oil. I am not too bad with electrics if I have a diagram in front of...

Thanks Bromsgrove Defender. Will try and find a wiring diagram online. What I don't understand is what is the reason the car will not start.

    Wiered electrical starting fault

I have a 2002 model TD5 which has always started first time a piston compresses. This morning when I went to start after waiting for the lights, including the glow plug light to go out it did not leap into life. I went to heat again but there was no glow plug light. I tried to start it but it...

    Sudden loss of suspension

So what do you know. Started in up, the compressor kicked in to lift it a little, then warning light went out and I drove it for about an hour as I had a recovery to do and it all behaved perfectly. Hope it is still sitting high tomorrow and that should be an end to it. what really went wrong I...

    Sudden loss of suspension

Right, I have now reconnected everything up to where it should be and as soon as I connected the green block to the SLAB it gentle let the back down to where it should be and it has been there for the last few hours. I cannot lift the back end to high mode but that is un important at the moment...

    Sudden loss of suspension

Ok, thanks for all that sierrafery. The fuses seem to be fine and I swapped the relay with the one for aux so that seems to be ok also. I wired the compressor straight to the battery, disconnected the centre air inlet/exhaust pipe to check my connections were the right way round and the...

    Sudden loss of suspension

I'm a reasonably competent home mechanic and while I have studied the book for layout I have just never had to deal with the suspension. Guess I have been lucky. I am quite happy to play with wiring if I get a lead.

    Sudden loss of suspension

I checked the fuse at the side of the road but will check the relay now. Was too knackered last night after driving 80 klm home at 20 klm per hour. Thanks for that and will let you know.

    Sudden loss of suspension

While driving along the motorway today my rear airbags (which have never given me any bother) suddenly went flat (within 200 yds.) The compressor does not seem to be running and no warning lights came on until after I had pushed the up button on the dash to try and raise the vehicle. Have not...

    bizzare diagonal brake failure!

Thanks for that info sierrafery. I have however now fixed the problem. I was told to speak to a Keith Elgin at Keith Elgin motors in Edinburgh. A bit of a Land Rover whiz kid. He told me I had confused the ABS brains and it had shut off my primary brake circuit and to try disconnecting the...
