    Thanks for all the advice, i think i will shop around the specialist insurers and then look for a defender based on what they say will be the cheapest one to insure.

    I was originally going to go with quinn because they were consuderabbly cheaper than anyone else, but they have gone into administration and aren't accepting any new policies. :(

    Where would you recommend getting one from? I have looked on auto trader and there are quite a few, but i'm not sure what to look out for in terms of problems or faults. :)

    On go compare, the quotes for a 1.2 clio or something like that were around £2700 and a 90 200Tdi was about £2500.

    My budgets a max of around £4500 including insurance, I was thinking of getting a quote of the NFU as I heard they would be cheaper for a Land Rover than a regular insurance company.

    Hi, I'm approaching my 17th birthday and I would like to buy a Defender for my first car. I would preferably like a 90 station wagon, with a 200Tdi engine. I would also one with big off road tyres. As I am quite new to this, i would be very appreciative of any advice, about what to look out...
