I didn't think an MOT included chassis number checks. I had a new chassis fitted last year and it passed the MOT with no chassis number on it.

Just measured mine the other day for a disklok. 41 cm diameter and that is for a factory fitted steering wheel on a 1997 300tdi.

Changed the timing belt. Never done one before so I took about 6 hours. Started first time and runs well. Chuffed :D

Had this problem with another vehicle. The mechanism needs to be set at just the right angle otherwise you get problems like you're having.

Removed drop arm from steering box (kept coming loose). Found lots of gunk in the splines. Cleaned with petrol and a tooth brush back to clean metal. Reassembled with new washer and nut. 176 NM of tightyness. Hope the b*gger stays put this time.

Never said you were a moron. Just that if someone claims the stolen landy, how do you know they are the genuine owner. Perhaps the docs were in the vehicle when it was stolen?

How can you guarantee the person is the genuine owner?
