    My first Defender

Congratulations. Don't panic about the missus, she will learn to love it. And those drips from the doors when it rains won't annoy her forever.

    windscreen wipers stopped working

Oh and I forgot to mention that the replacement park switch I got was also Britpart and it worked a treat.......well if you like your wipers on constantly once you have turned the key in the ignition. I prised open the original and cleaned the contacts up a bit and put it back together and it...

    windscreen wipers stopped working

I replaced cable and passenger side wheel box last summer. I remember it was summer because of all the rain:D. The new wheel box was a Britpart and although it works it is sloppy compared to the original part and I will be replacing it when I nextvhavecto take the dash off! I reckon I could have...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Ok...puts my cheeky hose clip issue into perspective. How I wish I could offer some advise but I can wish you good luck :D

What have you done to your Landie today.

They are the spring clip type not worm gear/ screw type. In the end I used some mole grips to grab the clips and squeeze 'em tight, and I spent 30 mins looking for them in the garage before asking the missus if she had seen them. Found them in the bedroom......apparently her nipple clamps are...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fitted a new thermostat......what was going to be a stress free couple of hours max turned into an all day swear fest......grabbed my viscous spanner to whip the fan off ..... I have not had the fan of this 110 yet and imagine my delight when I realised that my fan spanner which I originally...

    Power loss in wet conditions....

Pretty sure its not the fuel pump as I can drive in the dry without experiencing this problem. Normal fuel pump noise if i turn the ignition to position II for about 30 seconds and then it stops. Certainly can't hear the fuel pump with the engne running. Thanks for your thoughts though..... :D

    Power loss in wet conditions....

Thanks for your interest JNEC. It has only happened in the last week. Prior to that there hasn't been any issue and it drives very smoothly. I will try to describe the hiccup ...... doing a constant 70 mph there is a momemtary loss of power then it recovers then it does the same .On slowing...

    Power loss in wet conditions....

Hi. In the last week whilst driving at about 65-70 mph (54 reg Defender Td5) I have experienced brief losses of power. It has only occured in very wet road conditions and whist raining. The roads are only wet and i am not splashing about in puddles!!! The power loss can either be a momemtary...

    Td5 Defender oil leak

I just assumed it was but on reading your comment I have checked and it appears that it's not part of the test. Thanks Scotsman.

    Td5 Defender oil leak

Found the source of my leak....... It was the gasket between the oil filter cartridge adapter and the oil cooler. It was a relatively simple job. Turbo off and then just 3 bolts hold the cartridge adapter to the oil filter. Now turning my attention to my lack of reversing light as its MOT time...

    Td5 Defender oil leak

It doesn't need to mark it's territory - its a great big black beast that nobody is gonna mess with....the truck not the missus :D

    Td5 Defender oil leak

Hi, Since replacing the wife's 20 year old 200tdi 110 with a newer (54 plate) td5 it has always left a little engine oil on the drive after having been driven. Not really too much to get worried about but a niggle. Cleaned up the turbo side of the engine where and have managed to identify that...

Officially joined today....following 2 years of watching!!

Hi, First things first.....110 Td5 Defender XS first registered in 2004 which was bought in May this year to replace our 1991 200tdi 110 Defender. Nothing wrong with the 200tdi which was our first and was reliable (no really it was - certainly more reliable than any other 21 year old vehicle...
