Defender set up advice: Split charge, Webasto / eberspacher heater placement etc

Hi all, Having learnt some lessons from previous cars (and a house) about the importance of planning and doing things right, I am after picking your experienced brains for some advice. The Basics: I have a defender 110 TDCi Its not a daily driver (thats a Volvo - boo!) Its main use will be...

    Buying advice

For what its worth, having had 2, one that was fairly good, but needed lots of fettling, and one (much more expensive) that was in great nick, save yourself the extra expense and hold out for a good one. I saved for a year and waited and waited to find a good one. paid far more than i wanted to...

    Carbon fiber defender

Yeah, what he said. Fine for the London ****ers but for people who actually use it of no use. You might be better off focusing on interior parts, maybe a dash upgrade and the like, easier to make and more likely to sell. Wrong car for carbon in my mind.

Door seals - Landrover or Bearmach

Thanks for the replies, very helpful. What with the winter well on its way I want to get this one right. Dont want puddles in the car! They are i assume the original ones (2010), and are uni great condition - Except that they have been bent both sides by the door stay and crumpled. Real shame.

Door seals - Landrover or Bearmach

As per title - the land rover ones are about £70 each, the others about £16. Anyone used the Bearmach, are they much the same or should i spend the extra cash? Many thanks

What on earth am I doing...........

Sounds great! I have . had a few 'project' cars over the years and decided to spend the money up front this time - good nick ex RAF defender. Love it! However I still have a list of jobs to do for sure! Its a great learning experience and a lot of fun. I would very seriously however add to the...

    Our new vehicle

Let me know what you come up with - I am in a similar position at the moment - I have a 110 - but the 5 door with seats. I am currently researching ideas for a modular system that i can remove when i wont need it (most of the time) and install in say an hour or less before a trip. Nothing wrong...

    Our new vehicle

Looks great - I would for sure do some proper research - you can easily make it suitable for 2 to sleep in! Plus if you want to wild camp it is far better than a roof tent. I would also want to keep as much weight as possible off the roof! Looks a fantastic base for a camper. Will follow with...

    Pre or Post 2007?

I have had a 300TDi and have a puma. I would have the puma all day long. Interior is better, quite(er) and you can have a conversation no problem on the motorway. It has 6 gears and does 70-80 no problem. Think the dash / look is much better than the old. Still basic and utilitarian but just a...

    V692EVW Dodgy MOT?

Sad thing is some other poor schmuck will end up with this car. I mean it wont be you, but still. A real shame :(

    V692EVW Dodgy MOT?

Certainly not! Dont hand over a thing, at worst, it is your evidence of dodgy MOT and not up to standard. 30 days is too long. Cash in hand and i walk away, no cash i will take you to court. It is an open and shut case.

    V692EVW Dodgy MOT?

My Garage does the disputes for these sorts of things for trading standards - Depending where you are in Essex it might be wroth it - it is in Rochester, Kent. I had a landcruiser from a dealer wth the same issue - purchased it, took it in for a check and it was a complete fail. The mounts...

Possibly the best defender camper i have ever seen.

This has to be the best camper i have ever seen. Looks a touch bigger than a standard 110, but with the space of an ambulance and some - best of both worlds. Well worth a watch! Bet he will be inundated with build requests.

    Couldn't even manage 200 miles!

Haha! I know, i have had several before so know this is all part of the course. However i had got used to my *thrilling* but ultimately comfy and RELIABLE Volvo and Audi. Ah its not the end of the world, just forgot they need money. All the time!!

    Couldn't even manage 200 miles!

Because obviously its me. I am cursed with land rovers. The nice 'new' (to me) 2009 defender hasn't lasted 200 miles before wobbly mirror engine management light. Seriously! Engine management is totally going to be EGR valves, came on as ticked over 73k. Like it was programmed to! and the...
