  • I think my Head Gasket has blown. Milky grey sludge under the oil filler cap and coolant has completely disappeared, dipstick looked very odd and running very hot. I'm not remotely confident in my ability to resolve this as a keen to learn but low skilled DIY'er. How much money (as a ballpark), am I likely to need to borrow off the wife (reduce the cost her birthday present by), for a garage to do the work?

Cost? The head needs to be pulled. Is the head is warped. Y/N - How bad? - Can it be skimmed, OR will you need a new head. If its in spec (ref overhaul manual online, google it, you will see how easy this is) - DIY look at the overhaul manual to see - The ballpark for a garage would be wide about c£500 to maybe c£1500 - Depends on the head. DIY c£40 gasket and bolts assuming head OK

Think you will be lucky to get it done for £500 .I would think £1200 to £1500 Very easy to do your self.and you feel good in your self when it done and running.take your time weekend too take them off have them skimmed in the week then put back on weekend after go for it

Hello, I seem to have some oil bubbling up through the last rocker cover bolt (see photo). I've ordered 3 new washers to fit but was wondering if there's a torque setting that I need to use when tightening the bolts back up? Any advice, as ever, gratefully received..

Both surfaces clean if especially if fitting metal washers. If you have soft rubber washers tighten till you see the rubber squash slightly. The rule for a rocker cover is to nip the nuts/bolts. Don't try to give them the death. Rocker covers easily distort. Hope this helps.

TDI 200 Steering Wheel nut torque setting.

Hello, can anyone tell me the torque setting for the steering wheel nut please? I think it's 35nm, does that sound right? Thanks, in advance..
