no start cold without spraying into inlet

New glow plugs fitted and working
when it start it runs ok smokes a little apparantly new pistons fitted in spain before comming to the uk
the fuel tank was heavily contaminated cleaned out and lines
if the retur pipe is remove a drip might come out when cranking i dont what know the rate of return should be
i will check the valves to see if they are to tight not giving full compression
some help would be nice

Does it spin over at a tidy rate when cranking?
Fuel filter changed?
How long had it sat before you had it?
its been in the uk for a month running when it would start the owner said it ran ok not that he took it far
i would say it turns over well enough to start but it doesnt when running if injectors are cracked off all four make a noticeble difference when idling.i dont know about the timing with steel injector pipes from the verticle the pump it cant be rotated
like conventional horizontal pump or so i think

If you crack off an injector and it runs rough it shows that injector is working fine. The vertical pump can be rotated some.
Fuel filter?
Does the lift pump deliver plenty of fuel. Disconnect at filter and see how much comes out.

Which type of glow plugs did it have fitted, and what type did you fit, not make but type?
How long are you glowing them for before cranking?
