Wonder if anyone can help, I have a range rover vogue 3.0tdi VIN number SALLMAMC36A219067 I know it was orignally exported to Australia, I ran a check using VINDECODERZ which was very helpful and included the original build sheet and spec. I am a bit confused though, because it states the vehicle is a 2006 "Land Rover Model Year Indicators - Land Rover 2006 Model Year [001BG];", the dvla also states it is a 2006 and that it was first registered in the uk in 2018, however it has a 2005 number plate LY55ZKS which I believe is a number used when 'importing' vehicles from Ireland, but am not sure. This would explain why the 2004 s/h drive shaft I got from GOS didn't fit, does anyone know any other way to determine the exact age? I do know that although Ford quickly shifted to using their own power plant it was still possible to request the 3.0 BMW 57 engine up until 2009 . Any help appreciated because buying spare parts has become a bit of a minefield as has looking up repair options. Cheers all!

55 reg is sept 05-mar 06 I believe. Drive shaft or prop shaft? There was a recall/upgrade to the front prop

interesting, the date of first registration was 17.02.2006 thanks for that. The shaft that didn't fit was the passenger side drive shaft, I did notice there had been a recall for the front prop shaft in 08.08.2006.

It correctly identified mine as a 2001 in Alveston Red with Lightstone/Burgundy interior trim.

The manufacture year is often the build spec year rather than the actual year it was manufactured. Mine is a '95 registration but the build spec is '96. In my BECM it tells me it was made in May 1995 which makes sense as they'd have been stockpiling '96 models ready for the August rush of '96 plates.

That site shows both my P38's as correct reg & build year. Not paying for the full report though, because I can see what's in one of the cars compared to the free build sheet from LRSV !!

It's a 2006 MY vehicle. It's common for vehicles registered later in one year to be designated as the following model year.

My LR is a 58 plate, but the VIN year designation is for a 2009, as are the mechanical changes that happened for the 2009 MY.

The vehicle is a 2006 model year as confirmed by both the VIN and DVLA. The "LY55ZKS" plate is an age related registration issued when the car was imported to the UK in 2018, reflecting its original build year (late 2005 or early 2006). The plate’s format isn’t linked to Ireland, just standard DVLA practice. To find the exact build date, contact Land Rover UK or use TOPIx with the VIN. Since it's likely fitted with the BMW M57 engine, always match parts to the VIN, not the registration year, to avoid compatibility issues.

@nevillen Microcat finds the VIN. Search driveshaft part number using that ?
