So this whole story started with my engine oil cooler lines starting to weep oil where the rubber joins to the steel hoses.
I had some AN8 bungs welded onto my engine and gearbox oil coolers and fitting some very nice looking lines.
Then it kinda became an obsession where i want even more AN. Im now almost done replacing my fuel line with AN6 lines.

AN stands for army navy. Its a very universal usage fitting style developed by the americans in like 1930 i think to be field serviceable, reusable and not need any special tools to assemble. Most of the stuff is rated upto 1000psi and 260 deg celsius.
 
let hope they do not pop off under pressure or strip the threads when tightening them ( it's not only birds that go cheap cheap)

Seem to be OK. Damn tight on tolerance. Fitted but just as I was reassembling the bloody rain started. ****ing it down. Back soaked through so gave up and came in. Currently looking out the window and hoping it will stop soon.

Needs to handle 4 bar of pressure on the turbo-weasel.

Finished. Seems to be holding OK. Took it for a test-drive and drove it like I stole it on the way back. No sign of any weeps.

The turbo-wheezle has 5/8" outer diameter oil pipes. An adjustable pipe cutter does a lovely job if you undo the pipe clamp on the vertical support for the intake manifold. I used Hylomar on the threads between the barb and the straight-through coupling although strictly speaking it shouldn't be necessary with NPT threads. Nothing on the olives, not even the PTFE gas-tape I usually use when plumbing. All in all it cost £50 and I have a spare fitting. Better than the £300 from Land Rover and probably a new oil cooler to boot.
