Only One spring was found on the seletor, só that explained why it was hard to find first gear. Cleaned a bit (look at all that goo) and added a second spring i had around and seems much easier :)

Been blead of late so that is good. Try the release the pipe thing and if pedal goes down good. Next is to remove gear tunnel and have a look at what is going on with the slave cylinder. when you get that far come back.

Up on stands even in gear wheels will still turn because diffs will be doing their thing. It will not go into gear because the clutch is not working. As pedal is not going down there is a good chance the problem is with the clutch master...

Better with the clip but can work without but there is a chance it may escape. All you need is a short length of a stiff pipe, I have used a bit of blue alkathene water pipe. Place clip on the rod and then slip on the pipe, needs to hold the...

That's an air breather for the engine. Any excess pressure in the engine goes out here. There are a few causes. The o ring around the base is not sealing, and engine oil is simply splashing over the area. Undo the little bolt that holds it in...

Yes. I think “checked” meant that he tried really hard to get it to slip and the engine always stalled. It feels ok to me — better than it did before the clutch replacement — so I’m happier with it now than I have been since buying the vehicle...

Sorry — didn’t think to update you. It’s sorted now. The mechanic said the adjuster (at the master cylinder I assume) was wound right the way out and he hadn’t adjusted it when he fitted the new clutch. My theory is that the fluid expanded in...

thats only really for the idle tune the screw if its running lean it means the main jet has an obstruction or something else, but as i said the mixture screw is only for the idle. the main running jet is fixed and cant be adjusted but changed out...

I agree with the chaps above regarding repairs. Do not be tempted with doing a complete strip down overhaul unless this is really your thing, so many are never finished. Keep as a rolling restoration and enjoy each fix/improvement done as you use it.

Congratulations on your series 3. I've never seen a snorkle that big 😃. Make a list and get cracking. The first job I'd do is Inspect the chassis and get some protection on it.

Nice; decent pickup. Ready for 3/4 tilt. Have you found the line manual? Break the problems down into single issues. What bugs you the most?

If you keep the windows closed the fumes roll back in. We either drive with door tops off or sides rolled up Don’t have the luxury of flaps on the S1 to open

That's them. Thanks for your help. It has never had steps on while I've owned it so they must have been cut down a long while back. I can;t recall removing the left over bits but they can head for the scrap. Cheers

Pretty much so, had to drive my hard top with no rear door for a while as it was under repair. I did put a spare tail gate on but fumes came in. Best one can do is have the bulkhead flaps open to have a through flow of air. Other rag toppers...

tottot replied to the thread Oil in rear wheel bearings.....
With a 1989 model that is how it should be. The gear oil is shared from the diff like the series landys. If you are changing say a hub seal then a smear of grease on the bearings to keep them happy until more oil migrates from the diff [keep...

Thanks Tottot that’s what I’m thinking. Defo looks l like it’s running lean. Going to turn the mixture up slightly to helpfully get the plugs a nice brown for now👍🏻

Well looks like it has worked pretty hard for over 40 years. But they are about the most basic motor vehicle that are still around in numbers today and can be repaired without the need to ask a computer what the problem is. A sticky brake may be...

You may think that your engine is running rich but white deposits are the result of running lean. If it were running rich they would have black deposits on the plugs. A nice light brown is what there should be on the electrodes. A Gunson...
