Pressure looks fine. Thats not been tweaked.
Is the boost pin seized?
Could you rig up a small fuel tank under the bonnet direct to lift pump.will rule out blockages from main tank.
I hate these little faults which are hard to trace
Ideally you want a gauge with say a max of 2 or 3 bar range as the difference between .8 bar and 1 bar boost could explain your problem.
Having said that I am at .5 bar at 110 kph on a flat road.
An egt gauge would also help greatly in this...
I know, that's just what I had to hand but it's still given me an idea of what boost im getting and it looks decent enough. I've tried blipping the throttle, I've tried flooring it for a bit but still nothing. I don't know why it suddenly started...
I'll need to get the top off the injection pump and check as I think that's all it can be now. I'll blow through the fuel lines and make sure they're clear, after that there shouldn't be any problem or blockage right up to the filter so the...
I hooked up a boost gauge and connected the wastegate to the inlet manifold. Took it for a drive and it's hard to get an accurate read as the needle vibrates a lot for some reason but it's generally sitting between the two marks I've identified...
Met @meego yesterday and had a look over it and found what seemed to be an embarrassingly simple fix to my steering rattle problem. Turns out one of the bolts on the top steering column UJ was loose as well as play in the front left side wheel...
The left side is probably a wee bit heavier than it should be and the right is fine. Happy to pop round and give it another look over though if you want
Just as an update on this unfortunately the a frame balljoint being replaced still hasn't sorted the issue so at the moment it's been put on the back burner till I can figure out what else it could be
If that permanent live to the aux fuse board is coming straight from the battery then the draw from your glow plugs shouldn't have any effect on it. It seems much more likely that the cables chaffed on something and earthed against the bulkhead
I think the wastegate was seized a little so I've freed that up and I've also found that the right angle hose from the turbo is swelling under acceleration so I'll replace all the hoses. If still no luck I'll need to check the boost. I wanted to...
That sounds like the boost isn't getting through to push the plunger down on the fuel injector pump- forget it's proper name now.
As too why it is intermittent that is a mystery -
A boost gauge T'd in just before the pipe goes into the...
Certainly not expecting it to be rapid or drive like a modern car, I've had it long enough to know that but there is a noticeable drop and complete lack of power when under load. It never used to be like this so something must be causing it but...
Nope, and no EGR. Checked pick up pipe last night and that's clear, I also looked inside that tank and it's immaculate inside too. What I did find however is that when I removed the fuel filter I got a ton of diesel chucked out at me which isn't...
Well that made absolutely no difference. Replaced the boost control pipe and the air filter for good measure, im just back a test drive and unfortunately it's still exactly the same. I can hear the turbo spooling up in lower gears and I've no...
Suspect this may be my issue then. All other turbo hoses fine apart from this, the boost control pipe from injection pump to turbo has at least 1 pinhole worn through. Going to get a new one today and see if that sorts it
All I can really find out it is the approximate build date was January. Unfortunately the Series 3 was still being produced until 1985 (although I don't know if that was at Solihull) so I doubt you'll be able to use the serial number from the vin...
