    Book values are 145psi for 7:1 and 160 psi for 8:1 head, 50 seems well low but it’s consistent in 3 anyway I would guess your tester not reading correct too. If you have a cracked valve seat , these can be replaced to suit unleaded petrol

    Change the water pump while in there and the tensioner, you could run a long tap down the threads around water pump as they could get corroded up, change any iffy looking bolts for new too. I didn’t use the a beam torque wrench I guess as you use it to tension belt with a click type it’s clicks...

    I got this one https://www.screwfix.com/p/kewtech-ac-dc-multimeter-temperature-probe-600v/94916 Apart from the normal voltage and resistance it does diodes and capacitor checks , with the temp probe can check thermostat and the setting point of jam, even has a buzzer for continuity

    Try clamping off the flexi hoses at the front wheels and at the back axle and see what pedal feels like then. Then release one at a time and you will see where the problem is

    That big hub nut is cheap and can be unscrewed by tapping round the edge with a screwdriver or chisel if you don’t have the box spanner
