You make it sound like I went searching for something to deliberately make some weird point, I didn't I just searched for "most humane way to kill a rat"
The UFAW is a respected bunch They combine with the RSPCA and the IAT did you actually bother to find out who they were...

I don't remember having to do this very often in a steady relationshship, or even in an unsteady one!;)🤣

Not all D2s had ACE, so calling it a "non-original conversion" is stretching things a wee bit. Put it this way it wouldn't bother an insurance comapny nor an MOT tester.

Have you got some nice fancy nuts and bolts or screws to hold the piano hinges with? ;)

Yikes, I can see exactly why the bonnet lump would be a problem.
I have seen kit cars with a bonnet hinge on one side, but many also, like the one on my Marlin, which is a one piece you have to take off each time.
Can you not hinge it at the back somehow?

Before spending the money give @sierrafery a chance to jump on and give his opinion, it might be something simple and he is the biz when it comes to the electronix on these trucks!

TBH I'd not worry about a Nano for a while. Why not try doing what you did to get the fuel pump going then try to crank it again to see if it fires up and runs. Even if you have to jury rig wires to it. But be aware that if the ECM doesn't get a signal that the pump is running it still might not...

I'm assuming it's an RC40. common enough at the time I did mine.
Not expensive.

PLEASE don't ever work under a car on a jack ever again.:eek::eek:
Axle stands are cheap and easy to use.
Glad you made it back safely. ;):)
Must admit I'd have picked up the back box and driven it home with its rorty exhaust.
W did exactly that not too long ago with the exhaust...
