    Disco 3 (LR3) Discovery 3 rear wiper

@gstuart ????? Could it simply be that the arm isn't sufficiently tightened down onto the spline of the motor? Not knowing the car itself, as you know! The idea of "the hole being too big" worries me a bit! Does he mean the hole on the wiper arm?

Oh dear. IPA, acetone, WD40 no good? Is the drum plastic or metal? Prolly a dumb question, the one on mine is metal.

    300 TDI oil leak

I'd make sure first, from Turners, that the two extra holes are really necessary. Don't want to introduce further risk of possible leak spots. Unless of course you have already done this!

That is a shame. Borked in what way? Black Friday and all that you may be able to get a noo one cheap. I got an electric, (wired not batt) Titan from Scroofix a year or two back for £40. in a sale. It works just fine and will be going to France to replace my Titan petrol one which worked fine...

    300 TDI oil leak

So the engine has been freshly rebuilt and no one replaced the rear main seal? Or they did but it is leaking, even without being under pressure or rotational forces on it? That seal looks a good un. Do you mean "drill and tap" 2 new holes, or simply tap out two existing ones? Surprised it...

"In ear monitor". Kinda like an earbud type headphone but with a silicon thingy so it goes into the ear better and isolates itself from outside sounds. Can't beleeve I've just had to tell you summat about modern tech! I'll have to have a lie down!!🤣

Reminds me of the tree in a garden not so far away from us that had been deemed "safe" by the council. The same thing happened to it as happened to yours, only it was a big branch that fell across the street and onto the top of a parked car the other side of the road. It did it quite a bit of...

I need to order some wired IEMs for my new lappy, preferably USB-C connector. Does anyone have any and can give me an idea of the good the bad and the indifferent. It's to plug into a Samsung Galaxy Book 4. TIA

    300 TDI oil leak

That looks clear to me are you sure it isn't simply water/coolant? Coolant should be coloured and smell but has it just been filled with water? Does it feel oily when you rub it between your finger and thumb? ALL liquids in a motor vehicle have a smell except water. Clutching at straws a bit...

Flipping wind means that I am trying to watch the nooker and I keep losing signal. Too many trees where I live! Gotta be up early to go off to hospicle to have my head MRI scanned. (regular check on my meningioma). Think the NHS is trying to catch up on stuff. ;) Sleep well folks! :):):)

    300 TDI oil leak

So do you have any new ideas as to where the oil is coming from?
  15. Stanleysteamer

    300 TDI oil leak

That all makes sense and I would have done the same things in the same sequence. I am now thinking that the oil must be coming from what is in the oil filter housing, or else maybe some where in the cylinder head which only seeps down when the engine is tilted seriously down to the rear.
  16. Stanleysteamer

    300 TDI oil leak

Did you remove the oil filter at the same time as removing the sump? could oil be draining down from there?
  17. Stanleysteamer

    300 TDI oil leak

It can't be from the sump, even if he had oil in it as it would be below the level of the top of the sump!!!! Unless he overfilled it like a complete maniac, which I don't think he is!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    300 TDI oil leak

    See post #5;)

    300 TDI oil leak

And when my new one was put on RTV sealant was used. (My old one was replaced as it had started to weep oil through the base due to rust.)

    300 TDI oil leak

Well if you fitted it and did the bolts up to the correct torque setting then either the leak is elsewhere and just looks like it is from the sump, or there is a source of a leak on the mating surface of the sump. Or the sealant wasn't laid down evenly. Best of luck finding it.:)
