I did pal, rebuilt the old beast which i finished last year. Just done the head gasket and gave the block a good flush, radiator too and new heater matrix and bled the system as per manual and its still pretty poor, its a bugger. Heater box was...

I think the inbreeding effects the ability to feel the cold.

Genuine door seals and good door alignment helps. That defender draught right on the hip and kidney is horrible. My 300tdi disco is fine after first couple miles 😉

Maybe you can search for the thread that helps point you to re-furb your heater box and flushing the heater matrix ...

By the way, Allisport is a solid choice — I’ve been running their stuff for a while and it really holds up under pressure. But I’d also suggest giving all your coolant hoses a once-over, especially if they’ve been on there for a few years. I had...

Bought an allisport one didn’t you. Couldnt avoid it could you…. Don’t know if you did that weird in-line stat but they’re quite brittle too and worth changing

I think the series colour was marine blue but windjammer sounds pretty groovy.
  • R
Yeah, it’s all been done in box section, to be fair the last owner did a decent job of some of the welding needed.. had to do inner , outer sills for mot not long ago, as it was a patch work job, so opted to have it all cut out and re done so...

Max if you want pictures of it all look at my “try again thread” there’s also details in there for it all. I’ve gone to the extent of new tubs where I didn’t watch to keep patching! You’ll be buzzing once it’s done.
  • R
Does look nice and solid don’t it and ties in well to the uprights
  • R
Shout if you need any more pics as I’ve one D1 in use and that restoration 👍🏻

Yeah pretty disheartening when I took the trim off and it was full of metal; better to do it than to let it get worse though! Looks like it's coming together well, there's a lot of work there. I'm just trying to plan out where to start, every...

Yeah I lifted mine from there with wooden blocks. I did a similar repair to the one you’re doing years ago. It’s quite intricate at the boot end! The actual beam isn’t too bad. You’ve got unlucky that it’s gone there. Yeah I’m doing full...
  • R
Yeah I like those. Think it’s called windjammer - suits a defender so well. And arran beige which you never see!!!
  • R
Yeah. Every bit helps. It is deep bronze green. Original colour and my favourite. Quite partial to farmer blue as well though.

Well this old sow has been excellent through the winter. I thought I’d sell it when restoration is done but think I’d struggle to part with her. What I’d like to know if what you guys would do to give it a little refresh mechanically? I’ve...

Your door was likely scraping due to the hinge sagging mate rather than the metal work sagging. Good shout on the bar across the back - I’ve literally just done the same as what you say albeit I used a crane.

Time to check everything lines up! Also repaired the pillar and neatened it right up. I’m going to chop the bottom off other side and repeat the process as it’s so much tidier and I hate it when this area looks scabby. You really notice it on...

You'll have to see if the pump gets power and if it does means it's dead which is the most likely scenario, first check in C0376/0390(attached) from here the circuit goes to the pump... if no power we'll speak then but if you have power prepare a...
