P38A [P38] Common coolant leak locations

If it's only a small amount missing, chances are it's evaporated by the time you look for it !!

    P38A MAF woes

Also check that GEMS is set for the correct engine size. 2nd screen in settings menu. Once you get the settings in the right ballpark, you should do some drive cycles to train the ECU.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Also unplugged & tested blend & distrib motors using 9V battery & multimeter on the pots via the 16-pin connector. All seem to be working ok with smooth resistance change through the adjustment. But, when plugged back into the HEVAC, I get intermittent faults & damn book symbol. So getting...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Replaced connector on heater core sensor. Old one was rather corroded where the copper wires were crimped. Now HEVAC says correct remp instead of -8deg !!

    P38A MAF woes

In that case it's easier. Pin-1 = 12V, Pin-3 = Ground, and Pin-2 is the output to the ECU. The description in RAVE is not quite correct, because the IAT is in the air-filter housing. The attached LR System doc has the correct description on 4th page. MAF voltage should be about 1.4V at...

    P38A MAF woes

Both banks appear to be in Closed-Loop which implies the O2 sensors are working. They should be toggling, so do the voltages for these change ? (FYI, Nanocom is too slow to show the actual switching). Air flow readings say 1.64V and 32.39kg/h but do these change when you rev the engine ...

    P38A MAF woes

There's only one Adaptive Values Reset in Nanocom for either GEMS or Thor. (Can't remember which you have) No option to reset MAF, O2, etc separately because the ECU learns using all of the sensors together. Have you also checked the O2 sensors are switching properly ? Also check for air...

    Head gasket replacement part list

When I did my P38 4.0 got the Arp Studs from https://www.realsteel.co.uk/ in West Drayton. Was a genuine kit & cheaper than most other suppliers. Price depends if you have 10 or 14 per head.

Check the connector ?? Also check what values you are getting in the Inputs screen, rather than just faults.

    P38A Door handles

Outside handle attaches to green clip. Inside handle attaches to the lever circled in blue. Both of them operate the same metal lever, so the problem is likely to be one of these attachment points. About 6:30 into the video below shows the metal part moving & how the handles operate it.
