Yes they will disappear when you delete the windows driver. . . .BUT windows usually reinstalles its own driver after reboot !! Make sure you only remove the Serial driver, not the entire Ports tree. Do not reboot yet. Run the FTDI...

Well, to go to the original topic...I previously had a p38 with poly's installed by the PO. Driving at 60mph it felt like something was trying to rip the front axle from underneath the car ie death wobble, pretty unnerving on a motorway...once I...

With the serial cable plugged in, open Device Manager, and Delete the windows serial driver. Then run the FTDI Installer. Do not use device manager to install it. Then back in Device Manager / USB Serial / Properties check the cable...

My guy also doesn't do repairs, just MOT's. The bay has those jiggle plates for the front wheels, whcih are brilliant for finding loose joints. Easy to see from the pit (no 4-post lift required). Also he uses a Tapley meter to do the P38...

Ask them if they would do a "MOT Pre-Check". For the std MOT fee, my local guy goes through the MOT process without logging onto the computer system. Then if he's happy it's effectively a pass, I have a cuppa for 45mins while he does the...

Nanocom does report current faults, but no idea if it's really that, or a calculated error ?

Hopefully you caught it before the gel leaked down on the console below. Bit of info on how they work:

Tell the seller to warm it up fully. As with any potential purchase, take diagnostics with you & check it.

Could also be the 16-pin connector on the HEVAC failing ? I definitely need to replace the connector on my Green P38. All the motors & potentiometers test ok with a 9V battery & the flaps are def not sticking.
  • pwood999
Just look for the same version on eBay. If you're replacing the electrochromic with a standard mirror, get one of those. Up to 1998 had 3-wire, but 1999 onward have 5-wire connections. Earlier type with cover over the mount...

Not everything. Disconnect the blue antenna wire only. Once you sort the FOB, it will work next to the window (near the receiver), but local RF interference will no longer wake the BECM & drain the battery.
  • pwood999
Red box is AM/FM amplifier. Says so on it. Window thing is aftermarket whatever. Last pic is he RF receiver & blue wire is the antenna to disconnect.

Also check the wires inside the MAF connector. They are rather close to the EAS pipes on GEMS, so could have an intermittent connection.

As above, plus various other possible causes: 1) Gummed up crank breather allowing oily fumes to the turbo inlet side. Cheap & simple fix is to replace it. 2) Injector fault putting too much fuel in. Do a leak-off test to make sure they are...

@Frank_38 read this thread https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/p38-battery-drain.364514/#post-4994309 and go through the battery drain checks in BECM SID attached to post #32 in that thread. That will confirm if the problem is the RF...

Four possibilities: No power, no audio feed, blown amp, or blown speakers. Scrappers always say either "working when removed", or "tested & working". Personally I don't believe either on electrical parts!!

There's 4 drain tubes - one at each corner. The rear pair have joins partway down the C-pillars. Can't remember if the front pair do as well though. Definitely NOT high pressure water. Last time I did mine, I use a lentch of 2.5mm main...
