How the other 'arf live, having a RR as a shopping car  Our set of wheels is shared with others & called a bus .. but at least it's free, plus no parking charges.

At least with a S3 & earlier you can access the heater without stripping out the entire dash, unlike most cars.

Overcoming 'fiddly' can be lucrative. My one-time indie worked out ways of accomplishing certain tasks that officially required the body lifting. He was not only inventive but had small hands .. true he went through a good few sticky plasters...

Gullibility is rampant IMO, which is golden for marketing dreaming up the latest 'must have' gadget for those who value cup-holders over reliability.

Just a comment, 10w40 is not the best for an old RV8 despite what some books might say. 20w50 mineral oil with high levels of zddp (zinc) as the engine is of flat tappet design.

Comment probably applies to any modern car, all disposable just that some cost more than others. LR lost the plot decades ago, but to be fair they have to design/build what the market demands in order to stay in business. Q. if JLR built a...

Allegedly filters out water and crud. Sounds like it's fixing a problem that doesn't exist. Yes you get water in petrol but I've never had it cause a problem. And regular filters/sediment bowls do a decent job

Never come across a 'fuel trap' despite owning four RRC's but then they have all been EFI I have also owned a late 2.6 LR but that didn't have such a device, so I'm curious as to it's function.

A sad reflection of the brand, but probably true of any RR made after the Classic era. Any vehicle can suffer an unexpected breakdown & for that eventuality I have breakdown/recovery cover, but the thought of starting a journey lacking...

Not just Jag, my old BMW has the same scary gauge design though I can read the actual temp if I'm prepared to mess about pressing buttons on the computer.

Should the unit not work Clarion claim to be able to service any product they have ever made. or at least they could several years ago when they overhauled the original radio/tape player in my '87 Vogue.

Well, to go to the original topic...I previously had a p38 with poly's installed by the PO. Driving at 60mph it felt like something was trying to rip the front axle from underneath the car ie death wobble, pretty unnerving on a motorway...once I...

I'm pretty sure my old RRC cig. lighters (F & R) are also ign. live, not permanent. Something to do with the safety of inquisitive kids if they are left in the car?

Yip, approved theory my mate. I get around 40k miles from my 38's tyres and they are starting to micro crack... It's time for new ones even though there is still a decent bit of tread left.. 🤔 OH the choice🤷

Retired for 21 years but still paying my taxes :( What I can never understand is why the repairs don't last, is it shoddy workmanship or cost cutting on materials? When the Yanks built air-bases here during WW2 they used huge machines that...

'Tell you something I've found on my RRC (yes I know that's not a P38, but the same thinking could apply) in that tyre age can make a noticeable difference to the ride on tarmac. My '87 Vogue, on coils obviously, has General Grabber AT tyres that...

Didn't know that LPG was still obtainable, can't remember the last time I passed a garage that sold it. OK in cylinders & better suited to rural gas boilers & fork-lifts ;) Thought I'd save money by having my 3.9 RRC converted to gas back in...

Might actually increase fuel consumption because even though the revs are lower, the engine may be working harder to maintain speed.

Also at 70mph, surely lowering the revs from 1300 to 1100 is not gonna save much petrol ? Rememer you need a certain amount of energy or fuel to keep a brick shaped car rolling !!

Yeah, the market changed sine Covid, before a lot of people wanted to "overland", now, well, camping cars in general are in decline from ehat I hear. Maybe I find someone interested in good condition LT95 for some close to original restauration...

Lucky there, my '87 Vogue has LR developed anti-roll bars retro-fitted by one of it's two previous owners, sacrificing (allegedly) only half-an-inch of suspension travel, for those few owners that would have actually ventured off-road ;)

One last point of view on what has been an interesting discussion & one close to my heart as a one-time owner of four RRC's, all V8 autos. It's all very well valuing these cars at £10-15K for something decent rising to £30K for a really good...
