yup, or simply a piece of twisted wire, which, OK, you have to replace from time to time. I think you might be able to get those ties from a gardening place.

Putting polish on a surface then spreading it evenly, maybe letting it dry if it is that sort, then buffing it, cannot harm the surface.
But using polishes that contain cutting compounds to remove oxidisation could eventually cut through the top...
A crow keeps pulling my bird feeder off the stand so it can get all the spilt seeds, I'll need to cable tie it on
