I had the 109 on stands ONLY to discover the left rear wheel is loose - not connected to transmition. Could it BE a broken half shaft?
Does this looks like it should?
The Landy was driveable because the rear diff is soldered ( Will Change that...
I agree with the chaps above regarding repairs. Do not be tempted with doing a complete strip down overhaul unless this is really your thing, so many are never finished. Keep as a rolling restoration and enjoy each fix/improvement done as you use it.
Pre MOT checks, found both front drive shaft seals are leaking, new not so long ago when I did the swivels etc, wish I had left the originals in place, new stuff doesn't seem to last long.
Fitted a stereo with DAB and Bluetooth (complete with external microphone). Works very well. Can change the colour to match the dash too. Sony MEX-N7300BD, if anyone is interested.
At 3/4 of nominal max. power output without rev limiter or at the rev limiter, if I understood well. Not sure, it's a science to properly apply those testing procedures.
Anyways, off to Scotland we go now!
Some of the newer ducati are like that. Static noise testing on trackdays is usually 102db so they aren't allowed out. Even though they will pass drive by 'on track' limits
thanks for the reply! I already have all the brackets, but I just didn’t quite understand how to fit them. By chance I came a cross a YouTube video of a RR which cleared everything up.
In my opinion these schematics are a bit confusing though as...
Nice! Bikes are allowed higher limits here as well, some as high as 105 or so. Old enough, and there are no limits at all.
Germany authorities turned nuts regarding exhaust noise, some people are just crazy. Emptying exhaust dampeners...
If it helps, I have those. And the rear ones require some brackets on the outer wings. The front ones, well, those required some creative drilling. In the end I drilled a hole through the bumper and used bolts to attach them. Not really happy...
Well, super car noise limits in Germany are 75 dB(A), so 79 is roughly 30% higher than that. Normal road cars are capped at 73, if I remember correctly, I am allowed to be at least 60% in perceived noise over that. dB(A) is on a logarithmic...
Yesterday I could sleep, so I did what every sane person would do, I dug deep into this whole exhaust without certificate, noise and registration thing. And honestly, despite this bring noz really cheap, appr. 700 bucks for the noise testing and...
Ah, those damn "tuning" clowns ruining their cars to make more noise really drive me crazy. Not for any noise reason, that is those idiots problem, but because their butchering of exhausts, violating emission and noise regulations, has everyone...
Exactly Tony and his son used to specialise in working and making road worthy cars from the 60 and 70's, so have a good knowledge and tolerance of the older vehicle.
Same over here, with old cars you NEED, I cannot emphasize that enough, a testing station that is used to old and classic cars. And that testing needs to be pragmatic about things, there some specialzed of sorts in classics that could as well...
all well and good, but a lot is down to opinion (and subsequently experience) of the tester.. one mans advisory is another mans fail. tolerances in older cars arent the same as modern cars.
if you've only ever seen modern, you'll fail an old car...
I use a company that only do MOTs, their workshop is spotless, has an automated testing lane so every single time the test is the same rather than having an ape swinging on a pry bar etc. The tester just says "Pass or Fail, makes no difference...
