I have used stainless braided tap flexies as oil cooler pipes lasted about 30 years only changed as one had worn through rubbing against the battery tray on my Cortina.
  • Grrrrrr
No. I went to the local hydraulic place but he seemed to think Land Rover were an odd size. My main problem, apart from the cost of the Land Rover part, is that the pipes are more than likely welded to the cooler. Hence the plan to just cut the...

Yeah cylinder 8 bore actually looks fine form those new pictures. From the pictures it does not look like any of your liners have slipped either. You might have a coolant leak past the hg into your cylinders but its kinda hard to tell that from...

There are 2 contacts in the brake switch. Sometimes one comes loose and that's when both switches show as on all the time.

Pretty sure I just popped my clock out using feeler guages or maybe accessed via the stereo slot. It was a long tine ago though.

I’ll leave well alone, move the arm to vertical position, and tidy up the bits i can then reach (which is most of the arm). It’s one of those mysteriously inaccessible items on Planet P38, like changing the clock bulb. Now that one really is the...

Grrrrrr replied to the thread P38A The arrival of a P38.
I used an Ezibleed kit with the spare wheel when I changed the modulator. I ended up pushing 3 litres of brake fluid through its bleed nipple before bubbles stopped coming out. After that I just bled as per RAVE.

Hello everyone! I'll update you a bit with my work, I opened the actuator to clean the sludge from the coil and the tracks, I cut the 7 contacts. There was dirt between the coil and the stator that rotates with the actuator pin and the movement...

That's weird. Just checked Screwfix for the link and they don't seem to sell them anymore! They're not 15mm but whatever the imperial measurement is which is ever so slightly different. Best make what I've got last. I've got a lathe so in theory...

i have never purchased or heard of 15mm imperial olives always just use standard ones, 5/8 is slightly bigger than 15mm so the pipe may not fit in the fitting but the fitting could be machined to fit, it should take the pressure no problem as the...

Grrrrrr replied to the thread P38A V8 Fuel Leak.
The great thing about the v8 is that a quick burst down the road and you're down below the filler neck. Any spilled evaporates nicely too. I had a hell of job getting all the diesel out of mine.

Finally got round to doing this job, you were right it was very awkward, looking at RAVE its a 20 minute job which isnt the case! Even with the wheel arch liner removed it was still a pain but doable!!! I only had one hose so my P38 is obviously...

Yes you can do it but it's very awkward. I did mine after removing the tank for a pump replacement. RAVE makes it sound easier than it actually is !! Ideally drain the tank first, because then you can do both hoses. Use some soapy water...

Cylinder 8 looks very funky, something is not right there. The whole bore is very black with lots of carbon buildup. What ive circled in green kindof looks like a hotspot. What ive circled in blue looks like a crack in the liner to me. Send some...

Ratchet ring spanner perhaps? Sometimes helps to press down where the hinge is after removing the nut to take the tension off the wiper and allow it to wiggle off the spindle.

If anyone is on here looking for the source of odd vibrations then this sounds like an easy place to start: 1) are propshafts slightly out of phase? 2) is the nub in the missing tooth or have they reassembled in the wrong place? Reminds me, I...

From quite a number of hours of research on the proshaft phasing topic: In phase being where the u joints line up with each other like the rear driveshaft does. -All genuine LR front driveshafts for the P38 have the u joints set slightly out of...

I think I might need @brianp38dse or @gstuart for their opinion here! 5/8" is nearly but not quite 15 mm? My house is all imperial pipework and I know damn well that 15 or 22 mm olives leak every time but you can get olives from Screwfix that...

Straight edge and feeler gauges should be enough. Make sure surfaces are clean using plastic edge or something softer than the metal so it doesn't scratch the surface. Clean with soft rag and solvent like diesel or petrol.

My oil cooler pipes are leaking really badly now. Thinking of fitting a compression fitting and then just standard rubber pipe connected with a barbed fitting. Oil cooler pipe is the worst and has an outer diameter of 5/8". Only connectors I can...

I seem to recall a lot of the values were nowhere near what the Nanocom documentation said they should be but it didn't matter. I had some traces saved but they're all xlsb and I cannot open them on this computer. I'll try and find what mine were.

I'ma hold off, been pointed out my fuel temp is way out, so gonna change that before I touch anything else, as the pump thinks the fuel is way colder than it should be.

Here is the row about driveshaft phasing. Wammers at his finest, enjoy... https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/front-propshaft-phase-offset.230945/ You can't change it, but original LR driveshafts have the UJ's at slightly different...
