Hello Guys!
The new valves are slow to arrive, so I go on to solve other problems, replacing the passenger lock, the microswitches were out of order and the tailgate ground was broken. These were the conditions:I then disconnected the RF...
How much pressure ? The tank should generally be from 120-140psi when it's full. If the compressor is tired (usually from feeding a leak somewhere), the tank will never fill, and you will get apparently random faults as the ECU tries to...
I was think the pump and input shaft as well. The shafts are different lengths. I did consider swapping the internals instead and keeping everything the same length but I'm not sure if the first clutch pack is tailored to the longer input shaft...
I think @ovalandrover did this swap to one of his.
Some of the HP24 boxes are supposed to be a straight swap but I think the general opnion on here is that some need the input and oil pump assembly swapped over. Never tried it though.
Turns out it’s 390 Portofino / Arrow Red. The discolouration is quite severe, and noticeably different between the steel and aluminium panels. Thanks everyone for the help! I’m sure I’ll be asking plenty of questions as I start working on it.
So I did desnow it today, but decided to take the defender to the shops.
But now tomorrow ;). Gonna park the fender out somewhere safe and see if the L322 can do what the tin (never said) but hey if it gets beached the EAS will raise it and out...
As long as most of it is out it will be OK. Diesel seems to be way more volatile these days, possibly the ethanol or biodiesel content. Either way, it isn't like the waxy stuff of old. Petrol or acetone definitely better though, especially for...
Thank you, saved me a few £££. What would you suggest cleaning the intercooler out with? I’ve got a Jerry can of diesel left over from when I filled the fuel filter on the last service if that would work?
The relay is needed for the EAS to work properly. It can be replaced with a normal automotive relay and the system will work but not self-level although it will not talk to diagnostics like that.
Might be worth checking height calibration. If it...
Pull the EAS relay locateed under the passenger seat after you stop and see if it drops all round or just one corner. It sounds like the compressor is feeding a leak so it is not going to last long unless the leak is fixed.
Only when it lashes down and only when parked on a camber slope. When parked on level ground, it does not leak so, I ensure it's always parked on level ground when available. Fuel consumption alone is a reason to describe the car as money pit. I...
Sadly the EAS can be a pita. And while a few claim they can be reliable, they are by far the very small minority....
Anything you do to fix them, they can still go wrong. In some ways the suspension is not that complex, but if you need to sort...
I ordered one from Ulster in the end. Don't know if I need it but they seem to be getting rare so thought I had best get one in stock.

Platinum was 643X last time I bought one, iirc. I had to deliver it to work because they wouldn't post to private address for some reason.
I found Platinum the best. I don't rate the MF31.
EDIT: might have been 642X. Cannot remember which.
Just for reference, a 12V x 90Ah lead acid battery should be charged at 14V4 and a manufacturer will typically advise ten hours, known as the '10Hr rate' for a full charge. Therefore, a 90Ah battery should be charged with 9A for ten hours...
Found the box. Looks like I replaced it 9 years ago with a Mobiletron VR-VW010 ... or possibly VVV010. Has another number underneath: 4 717020 225646. In theory I could just put the original gubbins back.
+1 on that. Marty experimented creating a replacement EAS driver pack using modern solenoid hit-drop driver chips, etc. It worked, but did suffer gremlins & glitches. The plan was good, but if I remember he was too busy to complete the project.
Just checked my eBay history and it was too long ago for me to see the one I bought last time. Seller probably gone anyway.
Thinking about it, I would never have thrown the old one away. Just a case of finding the right box in the shed ...
After I had driven the ten miles home. Parked up, left the engine running while I fetched my DVM and then popped the bonnet and took the reading. Car radio was on but nothing else other than the HEVAC.
Yes, engine running at idle.
I don't know if the scrapper one had the upgrade or not. I'd need a working battery to test it! It could do with starting though so maybe I will do that first.
