These were my exact symptoms before I took off the prop. Resistance to roll and accelerating from standstill, especially in reverse. The VCU was done(still working on it).

This is a quite large topic, but some things to check first.
- Can you hear the pump "priming" when you turn power on? It should cut off after a few seconds.
- Are all the fuses ok?

I don't know if these help.

Great! Thank you. I'm unsure how I overlooked this, I'm fairly sure I've already been to this site.
I'm considering collating the info into a pdf for future reference.

I found some results with the search tool, but the links are either out of date, the russian webmasters have made the contents unavailable or the engine model is left unspecified(allbrit.de).
I'm looking for the parts catalogue for '00 Freelander 1 1.8k Petrol. Preferably in PDF. If these...

Yup. Leaky seal still on. I didn't bring a fresh one though, so that's probably on me. At least I've learned to get the seals at the same time I get the replaceable part. I thought I learned that lesson after a very eventful brake pad replacement on a '00 Mégane.

Nothing too impressive, but it's the little things that make you smile. Especially with how often you find yourself under it. I don't expect anyone but me and the MOT inspector to enjoy it though. :D

Yes, I figured I could fix the wire myself if it's obvious enough. Forgot to mention that the axle/IRD seal also broke while in service, or sometime before. Mechanic stated it was already leaking when they took it in.
Either the seal was bad and started leaking when I filled it up a week ago...

Finished the last round of painting my sump guard. Previous owner had made one (reworked from some other vehicle) himself and it had some rust and dents. Ground off the rust and most of the paint, primed in black and painted the bottom in olive. At least I'll be able to tell with a quick glance...

Wheel bearing(left rear) changed and CV Axle(RH) replaced at garage. What has changed:
- Less vibration and shudder
- TC and ABS lights are on constantly
Originally it was going in to have the LH CV changed, but now they said RH was worse off. They plugged the OBD scanner for the error lights...

It's harder to prove something doesn't exist than that it does. I would assume any MOT would know of the cut-off years for various features. I tried looking at the RAVE, but I wasn't able to find anything regarding this(it's a bit out of scope). Maybe showing the wiring diagrams, but I doubt...

This is so much prettier than my spanner bucket and misc. heap. 🫠

Took my "new" Freelander 1 to a trusted mechanic. Looking to hear from him tomorrow. I have little experience with 4x4 or land rovers so I'm asking him to diagnose my rattle/shudder. I wasn't able to narrow it down at home, but I'm leaning towards CV joint, most likely on engine end. The boots...

Have you tried a completely external antenna, just as a test?

Yeah, it's for a less used daily driver, so changing yearly sounds a bit tedious. I'll try to find a more convenient supplier for GKN. I hope it doesn't come to changing both. Appreciate it!
