Unfortunately there is no way to know who the culprit is without disassembling but don't bandage your head before breaking it, most likely it's just the gasket. You will have to disassemble the two heads if it is necessary to smooth and change...
This weekend I continued with the work, after having assembled the sump and the oil pump, I positioned the lower part of the chain and sprockets
then timing protection casing, I tightened the crankshaft bolt to the expected RAVE brute force, then...
the RAVE says to change the cam bolt and if I'm not mistaken also the crank bolt, in addition to the 14 head screws. I only have the new cylinder head screws, I couldn't find the one for the cams, and looking at it it's not damaged, so I'll reuse...
Why the crank bolt? No need to touch the crank to adjust the FIP timing.
Easy to mod the fuse box for the third fuel pump circuit, just a 1N4005 diode needed.
my compliments for the project! As an engine to have a simple thing you could use the BMW M51D25 of the P38, also mounted on the E39 525tds, using the gearbox bell of the P38 for the R380. This engine was born with an electronic FIP and an ECU...
Every resto starts with the first bolt. Mine happened to be the rear propshaft UJ. I want to keep things as mobile as possible and the clunk from the rear had to go.
All that rust had to go and the polywheel cleaned it up a treat. All the bits...
Putting this here because I need help and it is not fair to pollute the "I would just like to say" thread with my problems.
This is "GWEN" I won her with a single £12.95 ticket in a raffle run by UK-Minis (no affiliation).
She is a 1975 Morris...
My chains are original at nearly 180000 miles, let alone kilometres, and they show no signs of wear still. Had a look when I had the cylinder head off a few weeks back.
Chains always stretch a little and the pinions wear too but I have one on 147K miles and I think the other is on 242K kilometers running on original chains tat I do not intend changing. I think regular oil changes with good quality oil is the...
I imagine that the software is contained in the logic board, otherwise it would have been sufficient to replace the power board with subsequent software respecting the low/highline of the BECM. it would be too easy and everyone would do it🤣
You have misunderstood. With EKA off you cannot enter it but you can turn it back on to enter it should the need arise. However with the immobilser turned off, the EKA should never be needed.
Amelia the Staffy 😎
Very good! I've read that many people have bad hot starting after 200,000km due to the lengthening of the chain, so since I had to change the piston rings, I thought about changing the chains too, now I see that it wasn't...
Spare parts are starting to arrive, I immediately compared the new chains with the old ones: here is the situation 30 years and 186,000 km later. I actually suspect it was changed because it has little stretch and there was putty in some places...
mine was registered in March 1995 but the Becm production date was December 1994. In previous messages I was referring to the fact that in an old discussion Rick the Pick advised not to disable the EKA (perhaps he was referring to the previous...
Mine's a '95 and my version is 36, I think. Marty and I went through a stack of BECMs once and came to the conclusion that only early 1994 models have the earlier software.
