Omg!! There is progress!!!
But
The frigging rf receiver is not near the sunroof it's near the tailgate!!
Never mind! It's replaced and now i go through and test the keys. Green all the way!! Add both new keys...
Key 1 successfully programmed...
Has a fiddle. I can confirm that the 20mm access hole I made in the lower tailgate to open the lower tailgate DOES also open the top tailgate. So rear seat folded down and a bit of a stretch and I can release the top hatch if it does it again...
That's given me a thought...the hole I made in the card allows me to open the lower hatch with my finger or a screwdriver but I've never checked to see if it would also release the top hatch as that has never failed to open (until yesterday).

I have got a lazy microswitch for the interior lamp drivers side, takes ages for the lamp to come on when it's cold outside, quicker or instant when it's warm. Does that particular micro switch just provide the earth for the tailgate latch and it...
Sometimes dodgy drivers door lock actuator. One of the micro switches provides the earth for tailgate and can cause problems. Had this on mine several years ago. Also as said spring in tailgate switch rusts away and stops contacts working inside...
Just don't do what i did and put it all back together again and shut the tailgate before plugging the button back in.. took frigging hours to get the beggar open again!!
I think it's just a hasp on the upper tailgate, all the electrikery stuff is in the lower? Anywhoo, repeated open/closing of the tailgate has failed to replicate the fault. I did spray a lot of wax oil in both gates last year so maybe that...
I have always thought the top tailgate only has a "buckle" (like the pillars for the doors) and the sensor/switch was in the lower tailgate mechenisam like the doors (door ajar switch).
But have never dug in deep.

Thinking back to yesterday I suspect its electrical as there was no noise at all when the button was pressed, complete silence. The top tailgate has never failed to open (until yesterday) the lower has stuck a few times but that usually gets...
Couldn't get me shopping out, frozen stuff in there too! All doors opened fine then I remembered 'something' about slapping the lower tailgate around the numberplate area and it worked yay! Dinner was saved!
What needs looking at before it...
Joined the M23 from Gatwick heading towards M25 yesterday evening. Suspension fault, down to bump stops, managed to get to one of those emergency lay-byes. then waited for RAC. From 9:00pm until 1;00 am on side of motorway, then until 2;00am...
I've got a syringe with a bit of tube over the end and the needle fitted in the other end of that tube. Great for sucking diesel out of the injector Wells.
Replaced the b*st*rd leak off pipe to #1. Seems cutting the end off lasted about a day. Those leak off pipes appear to be single use and harden in the heat. Once fitted you can't disturb them without having to replace them.
Cleaned the engine...
