Thanks. OK, I have a 3-pronged attack. 1. A 5/16 drill & Tap (I would just have to file the hole in the heater take-off flange). 2. A 1/4" helicoil kit is on its way (be here tomorrow). 3. I could drill it and tap it at 8mm and make an...

If you can tap ANY thread size and form into the casting, can you make up a stepped stud, again with any thread type? Like the one in the attached pic, this particular one is 5/16 unf at one end and 7/16 unc at the other end.

I do like a nice fire. My incinerator is my favourite garden implement and when using it I always chuckle about how much my father in law would hate it. Probably need to heap a load of stuff up and have a big burn up before it gets too dry/hot...

OK, well that's a bust. Continuing on from yesterday's fun and games I received some new 1/4" UNF bolts this morning. The front fixing seems pretty much ok and I can get a 1/4" UNF to get a decent purchase. The rear fixing is an entirely...

...the new bolts for the heater take-off arrived, I had hope to take one out and put a new one in, then the other. But no, it all shifted and started leaking like no tomorrow. :( Still trying to fix it but its started raining so I came in.

Who is the "they" who said the pressure is too high? Shame you couldn't just get a different pressure regulator and fit it yourself. When we took our range cooker to France it came with the alternate jets but we were lucky with the regulator as...

Glad you got to the bottom of the thermostat problem. Do hope it stays OK and no sudden overheating problem occurs. Do hope it all goes back together correctly, but that is a serious bodge. Do you have imperial taps, to clear the threads? You...
