dag019 replied to the thread Deformed Piston bowl.
I am not an expert in this sort of internal engine diagnostics so wait for an adult to come along and give a proper answer. But over fueling can cause pistons to melt. So maybe an injectors issue on that piston if that’s the only one? Also as a...

I did consider LOF, which variant did you fit? But because of the mixed reviews I stuck with the one that I know and am used to. This is the first time I have had one fail. Usually mine get changed because the gearbox is out for a rebuild rather...

Are you trying to say the mighty 111bhp (when new, although well maintained so am hopeful not too many horses have escaped) is not a huge amount of power? How very dare you!! I am, at this point, just guessing that that is the problem, but will...

dag019 replied to the thread what shocks to use.
You can use standard shocks with a heavy duty springs, you do not need to uprate the shocks as well. I have this on my 110 with a winch, uprated front springs (same as 90 rears for reference), but still run the standard factory shocks. All you...

The ball don’t move. The cv part inside the ball does the bending. The abs ring is on the half that turns with the wheel, so the ring that the abs sensor picks up . The relationship between the 2 doesn’t change as the abs sensor is in the pin...

That is the tittle everyone else uses so thought I would jump on the band wagon. And while true that I have no drive, it is because my clutch has gone, I think I have torn the centre out of it. Went to pull away, sudden jolt, horrible whirring...

dag019 replied to the thread 110 "Heavy Duty" Package.
Although I am just guessing here, you may find that if it wasn't in the earlier brochure it was available through the special vehicle branch, which was far more of a bespoke rather than a package type specification. For example the utility...

It's kind of important to use the right terminology when you are asking about part of your landrover/car and what it does/how it works. If you don't know what it's called a photo is the best and quickest way to get a meaningful reponse. There is...

I don’t think they are. I had to fit them to my swb to fit a full tilt. I did exactly what you have said. I tucked it up against the capping and then positioned it at the right point to function with the tilt. Just make sure they are the same...

dag019 replied to the thread Drive Before I Decide?.
I do not have a direct comparison of the same engine 90 vs 110. My 90 is td5 and 110 a tdi. So they are very different setups. I will say from using the 110 regularly for hauling things about I personally do not think there is any driving feel or...

I had a similar issue with the station wagon body I rebuilt. I riveted an aluminium patch over the top of the hole and used tiger seal as a glue., then painted everything to give it a Protective layer, and I then used neoprene foam tape on the...

another vote for Ashcroft here. It is a recon of your current rather than a replacement but their turn around time is about a week (quicker if you drop off and collect) so the vehicle is not off the road for long.

dag019 replied to the thread Drive Before I Decide?.
As someone who has used and owned both what do you think a 90 does better? Other than having a slightly smaller turning circle due to length for everything else it is the same vehicle, same engines, same performance. There is no difference in...

I have never used a torque wrench on wheels unless racing. A 3ft breaker bar to two squeaks does the job quite happily!
  • dag019
I put a thin bead of black silicone in the bottom of the groove before fitting, slightly less aggressive than tiger seal but does the same job. They are supposed to be a dry fit but anything to help reduce water ingress has to be worth it!

if you get rid of the squeaks the rumbles and clunks become more noticeable, if you get rid of them you are just left with wind noise, and no one wants that!

If it comes to it the drop arm I took the picture of on eBay was £18 and included a new ball joint. So if you are really struggling although relaxing a good part it will not break the bank.

If that is what yours is like then you should be able to lock the arm centred using that. below are some pics of the drop arm an box that I have out of the vehicle to illustrate how it work, from the pics it looks to be threaded so could use a bolt:

Are you sure you don't have this. It is just a cast slot on the back of the arm, the new ones for sale still have it (image below from an ebay ad for a new one). This allows you to put a correctly sized drill bit (do not ask me what size) into...
