P38A instrument cluster message illumination on p38

Changing the bulbs on the instrument cluster is dead easy, just remove the module and you can get at them all from the back. +1 for Les on the key front. I got a spare made a couple of years back. JLR gave me the lock barrel code and all I had to send Les was a good picture of my key. Had a...

L322 Bad leak into Drivers footwell

Hi, Yeah the arms themselves came off pretty easy, the aluminium bits underneath seem bonded to the spindle. I’m a bit wary about using heat so close to the plastic and windscreen (and I sprayed a ton of PlusGas onto them) I know that Rave says these should be discarded and replaced (will...

L322 Bad leak into Drivers footwell

Ok, well I think we have an answer. First the good news -the A pillar is completely dry as is the headlining. I poured a litre of water onto the scuttle pan and it pooled and leaked -the drain was completely clogged. I’ve unclogged it and it drains way better but still leaks a bit -I think...

L322 Bad leak into Drivers footwell

I don’t think it’s splashing back up, I think it’s getting into the bit behind the dash panel and splashing from there onto the door. If my end panel was on, I think the door would be dry. I’ll need to try it tomorrow -get inside with a camera

L322 Bad leak into Drivers footwell

Hi, no, I had the top of the dash out to fix the (original) stereo and then realised my fuel gauge is mid-calibrated so thought I might need to take it off again -so, lazily never popped it back on. Door seals seem ok, nothing obvious. Unless something has gone wrong behind the a-pilled trim...

L322 Bad leak into Drivers footwell

I tried the scuttle panel and there is a load of gunk around the base of the wiper. Water is pooling there but does drain out under the footwell when I poured a cup of water in -slowly mind. Perhaps the torrential rain is causing it. I’ll start with the scuttle panel and work from there...

L322 Bad leak into Drivers footwell

Ughhhh…. I’m losing the will here. A few days of glorious weather and all dried out, one morning of rain and footwell drenched again. The water seems to be getting in quite high up, just below windscreen level and I don’t have the time for prolonged investigations…. I also seem to be stuck...

L322 Bad leak into Drivers footwell

Hi, Whilst sorting through some minor issues with my 2003 L322 if had her parked up for a couple of weeks. I got a shock when, after some really heavy rain, I found the mat and carpet in the drivers footwell completely soaked -not damp, saturated. Door seals seem ok but I do get water when...

L322 Major coolant leak Help !

Hi, I had noticed my 2003 4.4V8 (BMW M62) was loosing a lot of coolant and I was about to post to ask for any advice on tracing a Leak. I nipped out of work to see about getting some fluorescent dye to try and find the leak but when I pulled over to park I noticed steam coming out of the vent...

There was a slight ‘misting’ of oil on the underside of the cover but no evidence of a leak from the rocker cover on that side. Haven’t looked at the other bank yet. Will look into the rocker cover gaskets -I worry they may be pushing my spanner skills

    L322 4.4 M62 Sudden lumpyness Misfire in Cyl 7

Ok, So I changed the coil and plug in cylinder 7. Access wasn’t fantastic but it was reasonably straightforwards. The plug that came out was a bit rusty but not sooty and no significant oil in the spark plug well. Replaced with a Bosch coil and NKG Platinum plug. After the change the engine...
