    L322 4.4 M62 Sudden lumpyness Misfire in Cyl 7

There was a slight ‘misting’ of oil on the underside of the cover but no evidence of a leak from the rocker cover on that side. Haven’t looked at the other bank yet. Will look into the rocker cover gaskets -I worry they may be pushing my spanner skills

    L322 4.4 M62 Sudden lumpyness Misfire in Cyl 7

Ok, So I changed the coil and plug in cylinder 7. Access wasn’t fantastic but it was reasonably straightforwards. The plug that came out was a bit rusty but not sooty and no significant oil in the spark plug well. Replaced with a Bosch coil and NKG Platinum plug. After the change the engine...

There are the inevitable oil leaks (and a smell of burning oil) so I’ll have a look at the rocker cover gaskets too.

    L322 4.4 M62 Sudden lumpyness Misfire in Cyl 7

Hi, So having waxed lyrical only yesterday as to how smoothly my L322 was driving, it decided to bite me on the ar*e today. I jumped in to run an errand and it didn’t feel at all well, a bit ‘bouncy’ and rough. Going to full lock on steering made rather worrying ‘chirping’ noises and then the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Lay in a muddy puddle and changed rear discs and pads on L322 (actually really ok). Failed with handbrake shoes though :( At least there aren’t any loose bits of drum brake rattling around inside the disc now

L322 2002-2005 Handbrake Shoe replacement and adjustment

I attempted this today as a pre-emptive for the MOT. Brakes, pads and calipers were all pretty ok. Handbrake shies were a complete PiTA. I got everything ok (whilst lying in a puddle in the pouring rain) hut I could not get the bl**dy top spring in for love nor money. I tried pliers, a flat...

L322 2003 RR Central locking not unlocking properly

Just as a wee addendum to this, I have found a way of making it work reliably with the physical key action and perhaps the issue was just me being stupid. Turning the key in the lock once will open the drivers door, the others try but the little knobs only come halfway up. Allowing the key to...

And now, annoyingly it’s working fine again using the remote… grrr.

L322 2003 RR Central locking not unlocking properly

Hi, I’d hoped to be on here today posting about how I finally understood and solved an EAS problem which I will do, however, while flushed with the success of that, my 2003 L322 decided to ‘reward’ me for being so smug. In the way into work, and in need of some fuel, I’d stopped for a quick...

    L322 2003 L322 Can’t open bonnet -battery flat

It’s still on the charger for now but reading a healthier 14V. In fact even after running for 10 mins yesterday it had recovered back to 12.9V. Will give it a good blast then unplug and monitor overnight whilst attempting to re-do the bonnet latches and cables. -have a new first length which I...

    L322 2003 L322 Can’t open bonnet -battery flat

Success ! I removed the grille -and found that someone had been in there before. The cable I was dreading fishing out was looped out of the secondary retaining latch. A gentle tug and up the bonnet sprang. Battery measuring a dismal 1.5V but the Noco got her going first go. Engine sounds...

    L322 2003 L322 Can’t open bonnet -battery flat

Ok. So I squirmed into the boot in the freezing cold last night. The Noco has done hee-haw -likely due to the number of things you’ve all already observed. My fusebox doesn’t have the point Kermit suggested, or, rather, there’s a box for trailer wiring there. I tried to measure the voltage...

    L322 2003 L322 Can’t open bonnet -battery flat

I’ll clamber in and have another look. The garage basically said that may be screwed and that getting the bonnet open could be a major performance. I’m wondering whether I just try and cut through the retaining bolt thing and replace it

    L322 2003 L322 Can’t open bonnet -battery flat

Ok, so I’ve now got my fully-charged NOCO HD (2000A) attached via the rear fusebox. I’ve used one of the stainless luggage tie downs as an Earth but I’m not sure if that’s good or not ? -I figured it should be fairly structural and I couldn’t find anything else obvious in the vicinity I kinda...

    L322 2003 L322 Can’t open bonnet -battery flat

my flipping multimeter is 50 miles away, will Need to get it later on. One thing that I was able to do was squirrel into the back (all doors are super locked) and access the fuse box so I can get to that +ve, where would be a good place to Get an earth ? I also recovered my Noco lithium jump...

    L322 2003 L322 Can’t open bonnet -battery flat

That would make a lot of sense. I have a horrible feeling that that’s gonna be the case. Will check for continuity but if it is an Earth strap (very flat cable) I’m back to square 1. And, to make matters worse, I’ve just hit a deer in my daily Audi and it’s gonna be off the road for a wee...

I thought that too, but why the heavy-duty connector on the side ?

    L322 2003 L322 Can’t open bonnet -battery flat

Ok, so the terminal I can access is the one in the side the others are inaccessible towards the front of the vehicle.
