Ah, the satisfaction of a 'project' That and an excuse to drink lots of coffee.

You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs Ali. It looks complicated from a bystander's point of view, but dealing with one wire at a time is the way to get through the project. Keep up the good work.

If it was REALLY complicated I wouldn't be able to cope. Like I said, I connect one wire at a time and after many hours the number of wires has reduced by a few. Some day they will all be connected.

Those old ICEs eh. All those moving parts, valves, chains, belts, shafts, pumps and the cranks, pistons, con rods etc. All replaced by a simple electric motor with 1 twirly bit. They are so much simpler  I wouldn't know where to...

Any car 12V system is confusing with wires every where. Eating an elephant is done one bite at a time. Sorting the wiring is done one wire at a time and as they are all labelled it just takes time. ;)

Would love to see the AA person's face when you call them out and they open the bonnet !! 🫢 Great work.

So after a stupid number of hours working on the new improved HV and LV junction boxes and doing a brain transplant by installing a new VCU I still have a load of work to do but today I finally was able to take it out for a test drive. This is...

If you jack up both rear wheels they should spin fairly freely (in opposite directions). If not then the shoes might be too tight.

Have you checked the flexible hoses? They can bulge causing spongy brakes. You would know if the rears were wrong by the hand brake.

Don't be surprised if you have more than one issue. Maybe a bad connection AND a duff battery.

Had a local Land Rover group meetup today, followed by a little bit of light laning. That was all good apart from embarrasment before we even got going with the engine not turning over as we were about to set off. It appears I now have an...

It looks like the paint might be a bit faded and maybe even need a respray. Otherwise it looks decent enough. Mid Life crisis little red sports car? Aren't you a bit old for that? :vb-good:

Yip, they look pretty bad. I had to patch up a hole in my wheel arch behind the arch liner. Mud and dirt gather then stay wet and salty from road salt causing rust.

I'm a little ashamed to admit I did a similar fix to my 2004 Freelander EV. You can buy kits for this off Amazon, screw in the button base and pop on the cover, then repeat 40 more times.

Finished the door panels this afternoon. Used this: https://ebay.us/m/h4Hdh4 1m at £14.95 will do 8 door panels. It is also such a close match to the original that if any are ok they can be left alone. LHS one is representative of the...

Blocks of wood are far more stable than axle stands, which is why I use them for supporting a lifted car.

The anti-roll bar prevents axle articulation which is good on the road but bad off road. I wouldn't leave them off for long but it should be OK for a test. BTW you probably already know this having replaced so many but when changing drop links...

Lots of off roaders remove the drop links and anti-roll bar completely so why not? Remove the drop links and tie up the ends of the anti-roll bar and see how it is.

A decent FL1 should be between £1k and £2k for a low mileage example so the only reason to throw money at one is for the fun of doing it. I was talking to a guy yesterday who has bought a clean 2003 HSE with 70k for £1300
